Is my tree dying? Karpick Maple was planted in Fall of 2022 in Missouri. This year we had all the cicadas which killed a lot of the new branches on this tree. I have now noticed the following issues with the tree- black trunk, and holes in the sides of the tree :(


Is my tree dying? Karpick Maple was planted in Fall of 2022 in Missouri. This year we had all the cicadas which killed a lot of the new branches on this tree. I have now noticed the following issues with the tree- black trunk, and holes in the sides of the tree 🙁

    The holes are old wounds well on their way to ‘healing’ over, no big deal. Canopy looks good.

    Biggest issue is that it’s buried a little deep. Clear some dirt away from the base until you see the root flare. Grade the soil so this stays exposed
