Japanese maple turning orangey

Is it normal?

I got this Japanese maple Shaina variety a couple of weeks ago and noticed the leaves starting to lose its bright red colour. First photo is when I first got it, the succeeding ones are taken today. You can see the leaves are turning orangey now. The plant tag says the leaves should turn to "rich maroon" in the summer. Is something wrong with it? Location is Western Sydney.

I have no idea, but from the glimpse of the soil and pot, could it need new soil, bigger pot, a drink and a feed?
