I was given this stalk of night blooming cereus that already has roots. I’d like to prop the leaves since it’s very leggy—but we’re getting into autumn, which I understand lowers the success for propping cactus.
Would you just plant it with the current root, then wait until spring to prop? Or go all out and try propping now?
Additional info: Zone 6, getting into the 40s/50s F at night, although I do have a large grow light for succulents.

1) That’s not a _Cereus_, that’s an _Epiphyllum_
2) Those aren’t leaves, they’re stems
Personally I would cut and propagate
Trying to keep it upright while it tries to establish roots seems like it would be annoying since it’s so top heavy
