I am moving into my first home next week which has a good size garden. I’ve bought two Tayberries today as they remind me of my childhood. What’s the best time of year to plant them? What sort of area should I plant them in? What sort of soil? Any special tips for helping them to grow strong and sturdy?

Generally the RHS is the best source of solid information.

If you have a place prepared, then you could transplant them now.
Personally I’d mock up a temporary cold frame to overwinter them and transplant in the spring.
My Tayberry has given zero shits about where it grew to the point where I dug it up and disposed of its dismembered corpse in a bin which it is now growing in.
It is also growing up through my tall raised bed because I didn’t think about its roots enough.
Whatever you do will probably be fine
Tayberries are literal weeds (brambles). It’ll be fine no matter what you do.
I’ve got a few, one I didn’t even plant, just chucked it on the soil. All are doing fine. No watering, no feeding, just a structure for them to grow with 👍
If you can’t plant out soon, bury the pot in the ground to stop it freezing through. It is like a bramble, but if grown up a trellis or something it can be managed. Like all plants, feed, mulch water in the growing season….
