Hoya

Help! My Hoya is dying

Hi,

I've had this hoya for 7 months. I've never changed the way I water it or never changed its place in the house (same exposition to light). It's been doing fine this whole time… Since last week, it suddenly got this pale/ brownish color and is slowly dying. It's not green like it used to be.

What would be the reason? Your help is really appreciated!

Hey I’m really sorry to tell you but these Hoyas that are sold as just one leaf in soil are kind of a bad product/gimmick because they will usually die. Hoyas usually can’t grow just from one leaf

Sometimes these Hoya leaves are planted with enough of a “node” (place on the plant where new growth comes from) that they can stay alive and grow roots and new leaves. But usually that doesn’t happen.

It is just this kind of Hoya, the Hoya kerrii that is sold like this. I guess cos it looks like a heart? But long story short, this wasn’t your fault and was probably always going to happen

I hope this doesn’t put you off Hoyas, they’re wonderful plants. I would absolutely recommend trying to find a Hoya carnosa if you can, they’re gorgeous plants that will have lovely flowers, they are usually not too difficult to find in nurseries or Facebook market place
