Pulling the dahlias from seed that I’m not saving out to the compost pile. Today I pulled Bags: 28, 29, 35, 37, 39, 41, 45, 47, 50, 51, 53, & 55. Mostly red/yellow cactus types.
All the dahlias from seed I’ve pulled so far have had large great looking tubers! Has me feeling hopeful for the ones I do want to save for next year😻!
I used to wonder if dahlias from seed made tubers in their first year like folks on the you tubes be saying, and finally confirmed it for myself last year lol.
That’s a 12”x16” organza bag and a regular plant label for scale in the pics I guess.
Not bad if I do say so myself (which I do (did))! The seeds germinated in mid May, the dahlias went into their permanent 10-gallon plastic potato bags around mid June.
