I made this terrarium at a workshop in December 2023, my first attempt! I really enjoyed doing it and decided that if it survived for 12 months, I would make more. We’re now at 10 months and going strong.
I added tap water on the day of creation, and then over the next few days opened the terrarium for quite a long time to let water evaporate as it was definitely too humid. Since then, I have only opened it for pictures or to cut back the two faster growing plants. It is situated about two meters from a North-facing window.
Unfortunately I do not know the names of the plants in the terrarium. I used a pre-made soil mix, with gravel at the bottom and sand and bark covering.
And since I’m here, a question to the experts: can this type of closed terrarium also be made in a large Weck jar?
