First picture looks like there are roots starting to rot. Pull out of the water, cut off any mushy roots, allow to harden off for at least a couple hours and then put into water again. Consider putting water to barely the bottom of the plant. Barely touching. The ambient water in the vessel will get the roots to grow. Second picture should be fine and grow quite easily.
