Last week this beautiful tree on the apartment block I live was felled without informing us why. I’m so sad and it means the squirrels can’t play there anymore ( we used to watch them from our kitchen window).
Is it sick and should it have been cut down?

Did the tree have a heavy lean Over a structure? We’re there branches falling off damaging property? Did the tree have any obvious defects? Hard to answer if it should have been cut. Maybe the property manager saw( pun!) it was cheaper to cut the whole thing down as opposed to paying a guy to climb it and limb it up.
Clearly it had some sort of fungal infection that was spreading that would cause its demise eventually. Better to fell it now than it to uproot later causing damaged to property or worse, kill someone.
