Doing a job replacing these outdoor wooden steps & walkway. The small rock wall runs right alongside the steps, and when I was digging it out & getting everything level I obviously had to remove basically all the rocks along the edge so I could build it correct. In order to repair it correctly, do I need to dig enough out on the edge/get it flat at each step to reset and stack all of the rocks, and then backfill behind it?
