Had put down need st Augustine sod about 2 years ago and this is where we are at now. What do I need to do prep wise for new sod and to prevent this from happening again. Could I do seed here in South Florida like Bermuda?

Best method? Rent a sod cutter, cut out your lawn, level, add topsoil and whatever type of fertilizer the sod company recommends before application, then wet a bunch, have it laid down, roll it, water
