What does this ribbon and marking mean ?

Just bought a house and before we moved in we saw this. What does it mean on tree and ground ?

It means somebody tied a pink ribbon on it. There’s no universal meaning for colors AFAIK.

The one in the ground could possibly be a survey marker. Are there more of them, and do they run where the property boundary is?

I agree it could mean anything, for my business I designate green for trims, red for removal, and pink for spraying.

Ah dang you’ve been marked. Sorry about that.
