I have tried using the new plant identifier on iPhotos, but it is saying it’s a rose! Now, I would be delighted if it IS a rose, but the problem is I have not planted a rose here! Any help would be much appreciated so that I may either pull it out as a weed or happy dance that I have an accidental rose!

Not a rose, unfortunately.
I’m not super sure, but I’d suggest it’s possibly a shoot from a deciduous tree. Ash, Maple or Plane Tree etc. Something along those lines. Do you have any trees nearby?
