Need thoughts on how to fix

Installed new concrete drive and there is a space between driveway and path to back yard. Any ideas on how to make it look good?

The space isn’t what’s causing that area to look bad…

Pour more concrete including the path and steps

Rip the retaining wall and take out the steps and path stones.

The stones in the path will always move because they aren’t big enough to stay in place well. Whenever you lay stones that small they’re always going to shift around and move unless they are tightly installed next to each with a hard packed base and have a strong border.

Then I would trench underneath the retaining wall and the path and run your gutter out to a drain in the lawn. Water pulling up right at the base of that retaining wall is always going to make it fail. You need to extend that gutter underground and out to the grass to properly fix this long term. I would use PVC. Make sure it’s pitched away from the house.

For the pathway I would just do gravel if you aren’t comfortable installing new walkway stones/pavers.

Dig down 8″ minimum under the retaining wall. Pack a base of stone preferably mixed with stone dust, tamped every 2 inches. The gutter extension will also need run through this base. Then reinstall retaining wall. YouTube it, this is a small wall any home owner can likely do with a little sweat and time watching YouTube.

For the steps I would personally use ground contact pressure treated 6×6 or 4×4 and just frame out 2 boxes and fill w the same gravel from the walkway path or set a path stones in the middle of each step

The base layer for the steps and retaining wall is the most important part. You want it to be hard packed jagged stone. Nothing like pea gravel or anything that’s round/smooth.

There’s many ways to skin this cat but im recommending the easiest home owner DIY method I could see working and lasting a decent amount of time.
