So I take powdered pool shock ( calcium hypochlorite) and add a few granules every time I water. I don’t ever get algae or mold anymore and it off gasses chlorine leaving calcium behind. It’s a trick I picked up when I grew cannabis hydroponically. Keeps your reservoirs and lines spotless.

100% sand. Lay seeds on top and barely press them down. Don’t cover. Spray with water and cover. You will never have another mold issue again.
