No expert – but I would be personally leave it for the autumn and winter. Then in the spring, prune away the dead (white) stems, and leave the alive stems

My Acer looks the same at this time of year, they are very prone to wind and sun damage..
I put mine in the greenhouse over winter as a hard frost could kill it, unless it’s in a sheltered spot.
Early spring cut the dead off and new growth will appear.
