Personal Watering Technique


Just wanted to give a visual example of what peat looks like when it’s “wet enough” vs too dry.

Perfect moisture looks like the first picture. Color should be black or nearly black, and it should still have some type of texture. You shouldn’t see water pooling on top and it shouldn’t look like mud. Your pot will feel very dense.

When it’s too dry it starts to turn to a brown color and your pot will become feather light.

On my plants I typically keep them watered in a constant cycle beteeen the two. I wait until the top inch or two starts to look like picture 2 (don’t worry, the roots still have moisture. The pots dry from the top down) and then water them until the peat reverts back to the look of picture 1.
