I ripped the large plant out with my truck & a chain. They have sprouted twice since & I’ve taken a pickaxe to them once & a shovel to them as well but I can’t get them to stop growing.
Hack to the ground, over with layers of cardboard, cover cardboard with soil or compost. Plant grass into it. Overtime the cardboard will breakdown and eventually you’ll just have more lawn. In the meantime the cardboard will block the light and regrowth will die.
Alternatively plant a flower bed instead of a lawn there. Think of the pollinators.
