  1. Absolutely wild that my Minnesota weather is so similar to yours right now. Got our first mild frost a few nights ago and it's going to be 80 degrees this week 😮

  2. I’m trying to feel sorry for you all but we have had our first frost weeks ago here…I don’t think all your plants will die. If you just got to freezing and not below a lot of your plants will survive.

  3. Wow! I'm shocked! You're usually so far behind me on the first frost, so I get to enjoy watching your harden as I am putting mine to bed. I just had my first frost on the 16th here in Northern Illinois (a few days after our average first frost date). I'm very curios to see what will be able to recover in your garden. Love you, Jess! You are my gardening companion. :))

  4. Absolutely incredible that Columbia, SC had a first frost before Denver, CO where I live. We've only had one low temp below 40 yet this season which is unheard of. And frost isn't even in the forecast for the next 10 days. Just goes to show how different each season can be!

  5. Out first frost average date is 15th October, so I'd already had one yesterday morning. Our temp last night, was supposed to be 33. I covered my garden anyway, and I promise you it got down to 28. I am amazed at how well a frost cover works. I had PEPPERS that were undercover and untouched. The one just outside the cover is toast..

  6. If you water just B4 a frost the layer of water freezes 1st and insulates the plants. It's how they protect oranges in Northern Florida during frosts.

  7. We just had a freeze here in Oklahoma where I live. I was not excited to milk my goats in the cold, lol. I'm amazed that my tomato plants are still alive. They're on the north side of my house. I think it's partially because it didn't stay freezing for long enough, but also because the sun can't touch first thing in the morning and they got to thaw more gradually.

  8. And here we are in northern British Columbia, Canada with no frost yet. However it is expected in the next few days😢

  9. Honestly, Jess, I can’t believe that you got frost before I did up in Central Connecticut. The climate is haywire.❤

  10. Pretty par for the course with how life has been going for you in the past 6 months, right?!?!? Really weird though since I'm like directly north of you just a couple hours and it didn't frost here (and it was forecasted to a couple days this week). Do you get the feeling its gonna be a colder winter this year? I do.

  11. Even we here in the Mojave Desert Zone 8B have had a cold day today and I believe we should have a chillier drier winter here in NW Arizona. Time will tell. Sorry about no warning on your produce – sucks. Go out and harvest that Basil and all that survived but won't a second cold night in your yards.

  12. Hi Sweetie…just one of yr fav fans! I'd b shocked too!!! I'm shocked that N. Carolina got a hard frost b4 we did in my part of Canada! (Nova Scotia).
Yes we were just hovering around freezing last nite and early Friday am but it was what we call patchy first in low lying areas. It didn't affect the toms but 2nite I've covered everything I'm trying 2 keep a little longer. Must have been the full moon!
I was out working with a T-shirt and bare feet this afternoon. My husband had layers on so shows who the tender flower is in our family! Lol
Be careful…that's 2 things that have snuck up on ya…please don't let it b three!😁🤭
    Love ya 🫶

  13. Had my first frost Oct 15 in WI. Pretty average but our last frost was April 30 which was not typical so I had a longer growing season this year!

  14. Wow that was nice to see. In 🇦🇺 my last frost date 14/10 we are heading into spring now. Tiny baby chilli, rhubarb & cucumber have just started to pop up in my beds
