Here we go – a Start to Finish LANDSCAPE MAKEOVER with beautiful photos, some drone footage, and a cool pizza oven. I can’t wait to show what we did to get the pizza oven back there, “the things we will do for our pizza.” Notice the modern clean lines of the board-form concrete fire pit, an outdoor living structure with heaters & speakers, the outdoor kitchen from board-form concrete, and a nice little garden space off to the side. Total usable space for this young family. The video will show you the design to the finished product, how it looked then and how it looks finished.

Again, it’s important to get a design. When you stop and look at these results, how beautiful it all turned out and how it fits in with the architecture of the overall home and landscape.

The Vesuvio by Forno Bravo Pizza Oven is gas burning versus a wood burning pizza oven although we also do tons of different wood burning pizza oven options. As we needed to run the gas line to the pizza oven, we prepped the concrete with rebar, poured a concrete pad and used CMU block for the concrete footing for the pizza oven itself to sit on.

The Fireplace with Reflection Wall is board form concrete. It is a very clean look; a custom aesthetic and the reflection wall directs heat back into the outdoor space. You can see the beauty of the concrete with the wood grains in the finish, very modern. Note how it is framed; this is a very inexpensive way to do a concrete fire pit. (After you pour it you need to let it cure for two to three days prior to removing the forms) The wood gives the concrete the texture of a wood surface.

We also put board form concrete in the outdoor kitchen. You want to make sure your forms are very strong, so you won’t have bubbling of the concrete. Instead of a DYI project, it might be something for experienced contractors. It’s such a beautiful aesthetic and matches the architecture of the home for a very understated modern clean look.

The covered structure is the main destination pulling you outside and will keep you outside, rain or shine. Take note that we put it in the back corner of the property to utilize the entire backyard. The outside heaters, speakers, and the lights really add to the space and . . . will keep you very warm in the winter months. A multiple space destination room where you can entertain many friends and family members. A very popular thing to do right now is have Sonos speakers for the inside of your house. These homeowners chose them for their outdoors too. It gives them the ability to connect the outdoor speakers to their indoor speakers so no matter where you’re at whether you’re inside and you walk out – it’s all the same music.

A favorite part of this project is the small garden area with a privacy wall. The trellis adds privacy from the neighbor’s 2nd story windows. The garden bed was built with a footing to prevent it from sinking over time in this is a very wet backyard. It becomes a destination garden spot for young and old alike.

Thank you for joining us for this start-to-finish remodel. We especially enjoy the people behind the projects – the relationships we build with the homeowners. These people are so cool, and they love their outdoor space.

  1. What I want to see is how the posts go together on a covered area to accommodate all the light and sound wires. Thanks for posting I love your content!!!

  2. Great videos! Id like to see a B-channel on the actual construction from the ground up on your projects.

  3. I love your outside living areas, but the one let down is the planting – that could be so much better. The clients are obviously paying for the high quality work you do so I imagine they might feel a bit let down by the lack of design of the planted spaces.

  4. Feeling inspired. So glad I've found this channel. Keep up the great content!

  5. I see you do outdoor kitchen without the cover. How does the equipment hold up in Portland rain? And how do homeowners cook in the rain?
