Been in the video wilderness for awhile but I’m back with some tips on growing food crops in containers. In this example we grow peas in a medium sized pot and I explain my secret growing medium for great results and how I prefer to use my own soil mix for the growing medium rather than premium potting mixture.

I agree with you on not using potting mix. I have a fruit orchard in pots and i'm in perth. Sometimes i have to water twice a day in summer, water would just run straight through. No i use richgro garden soil mixed with manure and compost
snap peas are amazing. they just grow like gangbusters and need almost no encouragement. in fact, i would get volunteers nearly every season and didnt need to even plant them anymore. they just grow on their own. tomatoes do the same. just let the garden go wild and youll have more grub than you can eat.
you stand funny

hi there, I was wondering if you have ever grown food crops in an old bathtub? if you have what did you grow in it and did you get good results with it? Also what could a person like myself fill it with? Is your 1/3 method good for bathtub growing? I hope that you see this and can respond to it.Cheers mate, from another fellow Aussie who lives in Gippsland, Victoria.
Last time I grew peas, rats came and dug up and ate every single one of the seeds in one night. I tried protecting the plants while they sprouted in the second try. The rats came again and ate the plants and the seeds. Bastard things. So I trapped the lot of them and drowned them.
I will be trying peas for the first time this year. I will give your recommendations ago.
I bought a pack of seed peas today. I intend to grow them along the fence that separates my little yard from an annoying neighbor. Delicious privacy!

Hi Mark! I just watched this video after seeing some of your newer ones and am wondering if you have changed your opinion on container potting mix? I see that in the newer vids you've been using a good quality potting mix, do you find there is much difference between what you used in this video and the potting mix?
I have never tried to grow peas in South Texas I always thought it was too hot. Do you grow them in your spring or fall garden?
Thanks for the information sir…how many plants would be required to harvest around 1 kg of peas per week.
Another great video. I appreciate the information and look forward to watching each new video that you post.

My plant was growing pretty well till something started eating my the leaves. Not sure what is eating it. I checked for bugs and insects and there are none on the leaves. Could it be some bird
