Front Yard Garden

NowThis Visits Rob Greenfield's Front Yard Garden

Lucy Biggers and NowThis came down to visit me in Orlando and made this excellent case for why we should turn our grassy lawns into gardens full of food and habitat for our fellow species.
The video is reaching and inspiring people all across the country to convert their lawns into gardens, especially thanks to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez sharing it on twitter!

Here’s a little excerpt where Lucy suggests we eat hot peppers straight from the garden (and we do).

  1. you are amazing! I would love to grow as much as you do. I have my garden patches outfront. Where i grow all sorts of things and have been finding ways to incorporate them into cooking. I finally got my paws on wheat grass seeds. So i can soon try making some of my own flour and when i can find someone who can help me get sugarcane plants to grow as a house plant. I can try making my own sugar to use with my strawberries, black and raspberries and at some point my blueberries and grapes when they produce enough. To make sweet jams. I'd love to see your garden in person. Maybe you could help me figure out my nutrient distillation i some how learned to make and why plants love it so much.

  2. Hi Rob I hope you can try making macapuno/makapuno (macapuno preserve) it's a Filipino dessert made of coconut.. you can store it in room temperature, freezer or store it in a cooler.. it's really delicious 😊

  5. hey i have a pomegranate tree im growing and it’s about 3 feet tall now and i feel like it’s struggling to grow im not sure what to do… do you have any tips?

  6. Rob, you recently said you are noticing some concerns about your health. Maybe consider this thought?- the various front yards you started gardens on in Florida could have been sprayed on a consistent basis for some time in the past. Unless you do raised beds, the soil underneath the grass would likely be contaminated and you'd be ingesting ddt, pesticides, etc. whatever is in these sprays. Look up the "medical medium" on Facebook, go to the website and search brain fog. All the info is free

  7. You need to make your video like a day in the life maybe recording some parts of the day to show us the processe it would be so incredibly fascinating to see you do this hope your having a great day

  8. Hi sir adventurer, even if I do not agree 100% with what you do, but I appreciate most of your work, especially the fight against waste and market gardening. a big hello from Morocco 🇲🇦🇺🇸🇲🇦🇺🇸

  9. Hi Rob….So are you back in Orlando now? Could I drop by for a visit with you perhaps even next weekend as I am driving back to Vero Beach, FL from Jacksonville, FL ?

  10. How did you get started with foraging? I also live in Florida and a park I go to always has so many mushrooms and berries and fruits but I'm too scared to eat them because I'm not 100% positive about my identification skills. Are there books you used for reference to learn the local wild foods you can recommend?

  11. Rob would love to have a zoom call or interview or in way share your great thoughts to more people in the world.

  12. ROB PLEASE TALK TO ELON MUSK ABOUT THAT PROGRAM HE WANTED TO FIND END TO WORLD HUNGER.. YOU HAD REVOLUTIONARY IDEA-IF PEOPLE ACROSS GLOBE "GROW FOOD, NOT LAWNS".. IF FOOD WAS PLANTED EVERYWHERE.. HUNGER WOULD END.
