Garden Plans

Winter Garden Plans, my plans and workload for this winter.

Winter Garden Plans, my plans and workload for this winter. My plans for this winter include building some more No Dig beds on my allotment plot and garden. A total of seven new beds will be made bringing the total to 15. And I have plans to get my new polytunnel up at the very end of winter, providing the trees are out of the way. Part of the plans include two beds where they will grow my potatoes in pots every year from now on, a dedicated area that will be multi use and multi function, more about that at planting time next spring or as I build the beds in the garden.

To ask and have a question answered on future question time slots, send me a mail to steve.greensideup@gmail.com. This is your chance to ask a question about something I have already made a video about or something I am yet to do. If you think it is “up my street” then send me the question and I will do my best to answer on a future video.

  1. Sounds like there’ll be some great video material following all of your improvement plans. I love a build vid. Can’t wait to see how you go about it all with the benefit of your experience. Nick.

  2. Great plans looking forward to see your progress I have an area behind my polytunnel that I abandoned [approx. 10 by 8 ] it must have been a dump zone for glass by previous owner no matter how hard I tried glass still appears so my winter plan is to build a 10 by 6 polytunnel with 2ft path down the middle and on each side make grow benches like yours with removeable tops then later in season grow tomatoes etc in the beds like tony c smith using bottomless pots half buried and filled with good compost at the very least it will serve as a good seed station then I can pot on into my main tunnel all my ideas come from youtubers love the way you all share your ups and most importantly your downs as gardening programmes on tv put me off as everything looks and grows so perfectly

  3. A great deal of work planned Steve, going to be well worth it in the end though, you'll end up with a huge amount of extra growing space..

  4. Gosh you will be busy making all those raised beds ,, will you line the insides with plastic to increase the longevity of the wood? where are your compost bins going? I imagine you still need them somewhere,, good luck with all your endeavours,, Lisa

  5. So you, Andy and the Tree Surgeon are going to take the trees down – that'll be tree fellers then.

Look forward to seeing how the plans unfold.

  6. Lots of plans. Well done Steve on your forward thinking. Hope tree work works out for ye three amigos.

  7. Hi Steve hope your well, wow mate you really have got a lot going on this winter 😳 I look forward to continuing following your journey, I think the videos showing you doing this work will make for interesting content, and don’t forget to pace yourself mate Rome wasn’t built in a day lol, stay safe Steve and thank you for sharing David 👍👍

  8. I use the green plastic barrier netting same way as a construction site around the potato buckets. Line/lamp pins spaced 2-3ft apart..I have 12 containers of Sarpo Mira with haulms around 5ft high and it has supported them well including the two recent storms. It is good to have some projects to occupy us during the quieter months. Making my beds uniform sizes I found invaluable especially when moving around frames and structures – my OCD paid off 😉👍. All the best

  9. Enjoyed this Steve, some very good planning going on there, planning my spring bulb display at the moment here. With the addition of the beds, cold frame and tunnel, you will rally have expanded your grow space. Look forward to seeing the developments. All the best, Hugh 🌿👍🏼😊
