  1. Your garden looking very good. bad news at my factory plot:most okra, all squash, all cukes, most bush beans never sprouted. Grrrrrr! Went back and re-prepped and replanted and also planted 240' of creme peas. Hoping it was a fluke and weather related(6" rain didn't really help things and odd that 3 different types affected). Egg plant, maters looking good. Sugar peas sprouted, radish sprouted, collards looking sickly but the sets i used looked sickly when planted:1/2 price and hoping they perk up.Peppers just idle: still too cool at night and soil needs to be warmer for them.We shall see.
Also picked up a Land Pride 5' disc from craigslist last sunday for $400.00. Great shape and it's a goodun.Already tried it out and worked very well(creme pea spot). I know you don't have a tractor yet but keep your eye out for a 1 row plow,a good 5' disc ,a hiller, maybe a good used 5' tractor tiller, and a 25 to 35HP tractor. Fall and early winter is when these things get reasonable.
Ideal price points for good used in very good condition:
    1 bottom plow: 150.00
5' disc:500.00 (must be in great shape for that money)
    1 row hiller: 100.00
    3 pt tiller at 5':600.00
25 to 35 HP tractor: stay in 1970's and up year model(parts): no more than $3500.00 if all major systems functioning as they should. Exception is old vintage ford 8N's and 9N's as they are big enough and parts are available and these go for under $1000.00 for a good runner. Tires are expensive so look closely at the rear tires on any used tractor.
If you expand your garden to over 3000 or 4000 ft2 a Covington planter would be good too. $500.00 for good used, complete and with assortment of seed plates.
I have all of this and yesterday when I planted the creme peas(and did everything else) it was all hand work: really too much for hand work but didn't want to hook up the planter etc (my back is telling me I should have…).

  2. Where do you buy your Chicago Pickling Seeds? Also, where are you located (just so i can gauge for soil, etc./) I am FTW, planted my tomato, pepper, and cucumber starter plants on Sat, 3/17. Cucumber seems to have that "burnt" look. The leaves are dying and turning to the brittle, lacey look. I was told its been too cool of nights. That's why I'm asking where you are located. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? Seems like I get cucumbers to May and they die. Maybe a flower or 2, but hardly any growth and no fruit. Frustating!

  3. Hey, from Arkansas, just found you, subbed, and rang the bell, looking forward to your videos! I'm originally from Sulphur Springs, Texas!

  4. Good job with all of your plantings in Texas. I liked and subscribed to your channel. Be sure to check out my channel and please subscribe.

  5. I love the trellis method, I can't wait to try it this year. You have inspired me! Our family is moving to Texas this summer and I can't wait to begin gardening. I was wondering, after the cucumber and melon season do you disassemble the trellises or simply plant something new in the same spot? I'm learning about the benefit of crop rotation so I was curious about how you reuse the soil area.
