Natural Stone Steps and Gravel Pathway Build | Our Japanese Garden Escape

In this video we talk more about gravel and its use as our entrance pathway. Additionally we build three new natural stone steps leading to our stepping stone pond. See how we cut steps into the slope and how to lay natural slate slabs to form the steps. We also have a big delivery of gravel which we use to bring the pathway back to life.

  1. I forgot to ask, what is the plant to the left of the steps you put in? They kinda look like some type of water plant – tall stalks.

  2. Your instruktions of different ways of laying steppingstones will be very useful soon, Thank you. I'm wondering about a thing I've seen japanese gardeners on YT do; they "poke" with a stick (or the backside of a Tool) very thorougly and deep down around Stones to pack the soil or sand. But i Guess it's more needed when it is a Huge standing Stone , or such, and not needed for a flat stepping Stone? My japanese garden is placed at My summer cottage, so i just have weekends and holidays to Enjoy the lake. 😄 Right now it is covered with ice but it is melting Around the Shore so it's No longer safe to use. 3. I'm about to landscape my back garden and may borrow your idea for the gravel path! It's simple and looks more natural than a formal, hard edged path. Are weeds much of an issue as you're not using membrane? Great garden by the way! PS I've just found your previous video where you explain everything about the different pathways – thank you!
