  1. I love your show. I hope you eventually do some videos about The War of 1812.

  2. Just wanted to say thank you for doing some videos on the Vietnam War. As a daughter of a KIA vet, I really appreciate it. Unfortunately it’s too painful for me to watch them, but I really appreciate that you made them. God bless you!

  3. Where I was born and raised there is some ww2 history. There were German POWs and a mobile Japanese internment camp. Both groups of people were used during the harvesting of sugar beats. Also, in 1863, I believe, between 200 and 400 Shoshoni were massacred in what is known as the Bear River Massacre. It's in Idaho just over the border from Utah. I don't know how widely known the events are.

  4. You have more wars to go Korean War Vietnam war first Gulf war the others wont be safe but you got plenty of material to work with, one thing though finish the pacific and go were the atom bombs were drooped would tie that up real nice.

  5. Sorry I missed the live portion. Looking forward to the Antietam episodes. Every American has her/his own interpretation of the Civil War and it’s often their individual unassailable truth. As I’ve learned a bit more about the war I’ve come to believe Antietam was the Confederacy’s best chance at victory (which was a tie). A victory at Antietam could have resulted in British recognition of the CSA with material improvement in the Confederacy’s prospects.

  6. Interested in knowing some of your favorite history books, maybe a short video filler to do sometime.

  7. Love all your videos and how much deeper lesson I receive on history! Have you come to Rome, Georgia, for Civil War history. Lots of it here! Also, my maternal side is Morgan and it's the Morgans that settled West Virginia's Morgantown and surrounding areas. They came from Wales. Thank you for all hard work you do to keep history truthful and alive!

  8. J.D just wanted to tell you a little more on my relative who fought at Kennesaw Mountain. One of the men in his unit and a friend to that travel with him was killed there. Joseph ended up at Atlanta and was killed there by shrapnel. He is buried at Marietta Georgia National Cemetery .I would like to go some day to the Battlefield and the Cemetery. His name was Joseph Henley and was in the Ohio 50th reg.I also have letters he wrote has he traveled through the Civil war. Thanks Slim.

  9. Come to Darwin. We were bombed 64 times by the Japanese during WWII and have some awesome military sites fir you to visit.

  10. I try and comment every video and I will always be supportive. You do one helluva job J.D. u do all the travel and awful things that I don't like to be around masses of people but love history. So your really doing guys like me a huge favor.

  11. Since you seem to be a big cemetery guy I wanted to let you know that there is a "Rebel" cemetery in Hagerstown (north of Antietam). The cemetery's name is Rose Hill and a section of it is for the Confederate Soldiers that died in Antietam. When they created the cemetery at Antietam, they didn't want to bury the Confederates with the Union, so they were buried in Hagerstown. So sad for that to happen. I would be interested in any video about the Vietnam War as my brother fought there. My father was an Engineer with the 359th Reg. in the 6th Corps. According to my research, they came in after D-Day to put in fuel lines to keep the front going. That would be an interesting video is about the support Regiments after D-Day. Love your channel and I'm sorry I missed the live stream.

  12. Background. Son graduated from Gettysburg college. Close family friend wanted to visit the battlefield and town and insisted I act as his guide. I assigned him as a primer -to watch Gettysburg (the movie) and watch your suite of videos from your time at Gettysburg. Having that as a background made his 3 short days so much more rewarding and heightened his understanding of where he was on the battlefield – what happened there and on what day ( with a little help from yours truly 😊) Gettysburg can be overwhelming on your rookie outing. With your help, he’s hooked! Another civil war buff was born! Thanks so much for all the work and effort you put into the channel. It does not go unnoticed and unappreciated.
Btw. My travel companions passion is WW2 history, so our visit would not have been complete without a visit to Erik’s. Let’s just say the Winters’s collection and the rest left him speechless! Over the many visits, I don’t think I have ever come up with the words proper to the task to express my gratitude to Erik for sharing his passion with the world – and for free! You two make a formidable team!
Our Next trip: the beaches at Normandie! Cheers!

  13. I love watching your channel, and I have learned more about history from your shows then I ever did in school. Thank you for such great shows!

  14. Sorry I missed the livestream but watching it now. Just want to thank you, JD, for your commitment to bring history to us and keep it alive. I really appreciate all you do.

  15. As a Civil War enthusiasts and a reenactor for many years, I am super excited for your Antietam series.

  16. JD– I visited Tacoa in 2012 and 2013 while in north Georgia. There was basically just a sign and the markers outside the gates. If you hadn't made your video, about the preservation efforts and expansion, I would have never thought to go back. Now every time I visit mom in Stone Mountain, I stop by on my way back to Michigan. Thanks!

PS. My ancestors were also at Kennesaw — on the other team. One, States Rights Gist in command of a division, the others in the 56th GA who had been paroled at Vicksburg and reenlisted. Love to see some Vicksburg content. I've never visited.

  17. really enjoyed this show; thank you, JD, for all that you do; your passion for history and hard work to preserve true history is delightful. and, your humility is a testament to your confidence in your identity as a child of God, saved by Jesus, Son of God and man, and Savior of the world. May God bless you and your family w/ His steadfast love. Currahee!

  18. Glad to see you do these history videos. I have a suggestion. You said one day you would like to go to Peleliu. The Philippines is about 500 miles from that island. It was the scene of heavy fighting in 1941 and 1942. Especially at Bataan and Corregidor. Any possibility of putting that on your travel list. I heard that Mount Samat on the Bataan Peninsula is a very interesting place to see.
