Unique Edible Perennial Garden Plant – Voodoo Lily

https://mynjgarden.com The voodoo lily is a perennial plant with a stinky flower and an edible tuber. I originally put them in the garden as a companion plant for the paw paw trees, hoping to increase pollination. Since both have rancid smelling flowers, I assumed the voodoo lily would attract flies and beetles that would help to pollinate the paw paws. It turns out that they don’t bloom at nearly the same time, so though not effective as a companion plant, they are productive on their own as an edible crop. The tubers can be used to make flour and a vegan gelatin substitute. Reliable perennial plant in New Jersey, planting zone 7a
