April & May have been craaazy months for me and it’s taking me a bit longer to get videos out than I would like! But here is a recap of what I did in April to improve the garden a bit more and even a little greenhouse tour of what’s left of my seedlings. The tomato trellises are a game changer! I got a bunch of new peppers and even a dwarf fruit tree!! Plus some plans for the future and finally getting my hands on some cattle panels. I’m SO excited!

I have found that getting good quality seeding mix such as Sun Gro makes a big difference in my seedlings. I did not like the Miracle Gro potting mix, it has too many big pieces of bark. It looks like there was a nutrient lacking such as Phosphorous. After the tomatoes gets its first true leaves (the second set) add a small amount of liquid fertilizer such as miracle gro. Just make sure and add only a small amount, with Miracle gro add 1/2 teaspoon per gallon at most once a week. Organics do not work well due to need for bacteria to break down the nutrients before plants can use it. Synthetics are available immediately. Just do not over due it. Mine looked similar this spring and as soon as I added a little fertilizer they really perked up and grew. Just do not add too much or you will burn or even kill the small tender plants. Tomato plants, if grow indoors, should be ready to transplant 4 to 6 weeks after planting the seed.
