Skin Care Tips for the Gardener

You asked, and I am finally answering. These are the skin care products I use religiously on a daily basis. Gardeners are well aware of the toll that being out in the sun and wind can take on our skin. I find these serums and elixirs help protect my sensitive skin and mitigate the effects of aging. Make sure to test them first… And of course if you have any skin sensitivities please be careful. Again, these are products that work for me; you may have a different skin type and they may not be as effective for you. Happy Mother’s Day everyone! #antiaging #skincare #skincareover40

  1. Happy Mothers Day to all the lovely ladies on Linda channel. Linda you are so beautiful on the the inside it just radiates out. Love the skinny on some skin care too!

  2. I have and HAD dry sensitive skin my entire life but also had acne like crazy. Sadly I treated it incorrectly by using the drying stuff for acne like Clearasil. I learned in my early 20's the reason I had so much acne that was so very bad was because I had dry skin and should have used oil based moisturizer for sensitive skin. I too have rosacea. I use oil on my face and a moisturizer for dry sensitive skin. So I am opposite of most people lol. Now I am far too lax on sunblock. So now I have freckles. Not good at all. I try I just forget far too much

  3. Happy Mom’s Day! I’ve been using Timeless Vit C + Vit E & Ferulic Acid for nearly a year. It only $17.99 at Target and has helped with the redness on my cheeks tremendously.

  4. Your skin is beautiful. I use the serum products you mentioned but also retin A which I think benefits me the most. I also microneedle.

  5. Happy Mother’s Day!
Got to spend a couple hours in the garden after 24 hours of rain.
I use old fashioned Ponds Cold Cream. It is the absolute best for the removing of make up. I have tested it against several others – including several you mentioned. I am 68 years old but I have suggested it to my daughters and they both like it as well. My skin never feels dry after using it to wash my face. And it is very inexpensive.

  6. Thank you for this video. I'm definitely going to try some of these products. I've been using the teeth whitener you recommended in your other videos and wow great results. Linda maybe you said but what works best for the neck skin texture? Thank you for your help.

  7. Thank you Linda for your skin care routine and products.
I love Josie Maran Argan Oil Milk. (QVC). It now comes with a sunscreen mixed in.

  8. It's always amazing how different our skin can be. I'm wearing more hats because when I garden or exercise, skin care products sweat off. When I get it in my eyes, it's awful. Whatever works for you take care of yourself. My favorite product is Jason's vitamin E oil.

  9. Thank you very much for this video Linda. I will be watching it again for those product names so I can order at least a couple of them. Happy Mother's Day

  10. Happy Mother's Day. Thanks for all your skin care products. Adding a few drops of Herbal Skin Solutions Vitamin C plus to my daily moisturizer. Better penetration of the serum. Like your dress. Need to check out World Market for more than wine. Thanks

  11. Hope you had a wonderful Mother’s Day Linda! Enjoyed your skincare video, packed with very useful information. Thank you, will be looking into several products you mentioned. Your looked so pretty today, as usual!
    Hey Stewart!

  12. I absolutely make sure to clean my face and neck/decolletage morning and night with a little of my Mixa lait de toilette (I live in France). Followed by a thin layer of Bioderma Skin Balm.
I have combo skin, which I've self-deduced over the years. I'm 66 and my skin is less wrinkled than my 4 sisters', I credit that to moving to a less sunny climate when I was 36. And having a good gene pool. A Low carb lifestyle over the last 5 years has markedly reduced cellular inflammation, my family is subject to immune system maladies (psoriasis, eczema, rosacea, arthritis, etc.).

  13. Happy Mother’s Day! I love skin care products! Double cleansing has been a game changer for me this year…cleansing first with oil/balm and then a gentle cleanser afterwards. I also incorporated Oil of Olay Vitamin C cream in the morning and Oil of Olay Retinol cream in the evening. I wish I could afford the micro needling!

  14. I have been taking a collagen supplement and low carb 3.5 years ago. As, I turned sixty this year, I feel awesome and my skin, hair and nails look great also.

  15. Thank you for the skin care information. I can’t find the Vitamin C Ferulic Acid. Please put up a link.

  16. I too, am a sunscreen fanatic ! I have very oily skin so I have to be careful about greasy sunscreens and now use Cetaphil as well as Neutregena Sheer SPF. Other than sunscreen, my absolute favourite product is the Squalane + Marine Algae Eye Cream by BIOSSANCE ! Best stuff on the market !

  17. Well it’s not skin care but I can’t leave the house without blush and mascara. I wish I could get into skincare but it seems daunting. I enjoyed watching what you use but what would you suggest for a “paired down” version (less steps)🤔

  18. Starting using oil of Olay with collagen and it is great. My skin feels firmer. I like vitamin c serums also.

  19. I do a variation on your technique – inexpensive but good products paired with the things I like the most from Dermalogica. Cetaphil cleanser for sensitive skin, CeraVe Hydrating Hyaluronic Acid Serum to lock in moisture, and CeraVe Eye Repair Cream to lessen puffiness and dark circles (important to use over time to get that effect. Last thing before moisturizer and sunscreen is Dermalogica Biolumin-C Serum. Alternate La Roche – Posay Lipikar Balm AP+ and Cetaphil Body Moisturizing Cream for dry, sensitive skin (and yes, I use it on my face). Sunscreen is usually La Roche – Posay Athelios Mineral – either plain or tinted (I use their Melt-In Sunscreen Milk for my arms, legs, etc. Once a week facial is the pricey stuff – Dermalogica Gentle Cream Exfoliant followed by Multivitamin Thermafoliant and then Multivitamin Power Recovery Masque. I’m in my late 60s and have very fine, very dry skin. So far so good on minimal wrinkles and lines.

  20. I’ve always had nice skin, never had acne as a teen and no need for a foundation……well crap, right around turning 50 I guess it’s rosacea but whatever it is, it’s miserable 😩 I’ve tried everything and even the prescription the Dr gave me doesn’t help 😟
I hate the way I look and don’t want to leave my house !!!

  21. Sunscreen is number 1. I don't use anything harsh either and nothing with salicylic acid-instant breakouts. I use mild cleansers and as I've gotten older oils work better than creams on my skin. I use jojoba oil after washing my face at night.

  22. I have combination skin and was fortunate to rosy peachy and cream skin that also sunburns fast. But my wrinkles are few for almost 70 in June. I use a product called under eye eraser called Eye Perfecter that puffs up under my eyes. I get it at Sally’s Beauty Supply for under $15.00. They also have a product called Line Eraser. I also have Roseau. There also is a procedure called Vbeam laser treatment to have the Roseau removed. I’m going to check that out with the dermatologist.

  23. I use ZO products but have also come to love the Naturopathica line. Especially the argan and retinol night gel. Light weight, soothing & smoothing.

  24. I cannot use vitamin E as it dry's my skin to cracking stage. I finally used very light coating of Vaseline. Love that dress!!

  25. I double cleanse my skin every night with a balm to remove makeup and then a gel cleanser to deep clean. I apply Vit C and a serum with Bakuchiol to fade brown sun spots. Then I wet my skin and apply a Hylauronic serum and moisturizer. I use a BHA/AHA defoliator twice a week to clear the skin. You should apply at least 1/4 tsp of sunblock because the SPF in makeup is not adequate. You would look like a cakey mess if you applied enough foundation to protect your skin. I also use an eye cream AM and PM that has retinol in it to diminish fine lines and wrinkles. Thanks for sharing your favorites and tell Stuart he's a good sport. :))

  26. Thank you love to see your skincare routine, especially since gardening plays havoc with my skin

  27. Lathered my Neutrogena Hydro Boost on this morning. It was just delivered! Feels so comfortable on my face and skin. Out watering my garden on our first very hot day (zone 5b) and feeling so happy having cared for my skin. Thank you so much Linda for sharing your skin care regime. You are an amazing, caring teacher.

  28. I love serums of all sorts, SPF 50, a vegetarian diet, and lots of H2O!
You do have beautiful skin, and I really love your garden-inspired dress.

  29. Submitting a random question about boxwoods. Last year you showed a product you sprayed on boxwoods after pruning. What was that?

  30. Hi, I have been thinking of microneedling , wasn't brave enough to do this myself, and thought of going to a professional , thinking that it would be very expensive, and you go only 2-3Xa year, in the fall/winter. Your skin is very beautiful, thank you so much for sharing the info on Truskin Via. C and hyalauronic acid, and your skin treatment.Thank you for the encouragement especially for the microneedling.Cindy Scarth, Coeurd;alene,Idaho.

  31. I recently received the generous gift of a skincare treatment at a medical spa. The aesthetician answered my many questions and told me 80% of successful skin care routines happen at our own bathroom sinks. Consistent application of well chosen products partnered with habitual, daily use of sunscreen was the winning combination. Who else is going to tale care of our precious skin but ourselves?

  32. Our company has juts got some new models of skincare devices, such as radio frequency skin tightening machine.A few quotas are reserved for people who are interested in this to experience for free. If you would like to know more details, just contact my mail-box to get your quota. First come first served.

  33. So very glad you addressed sun protection. I wear hats and sun protective clothing along with sunscreen whenever I’m gardening. Now that many of us are enjoying longer life, it’s important to keep skin functioning well. My 93 year old father has cancers frozen and cut out regularly. It’s hard for his poor skin to heal.

  34. Thank you so much, Linda. I am 69 and have been having issues with my facial skin which is the result of dermatologists prescribing steroids for me to use on my face. It is now know that the steroids cause the skin to thin and results in rashes. I have been at a loss as to what to do and there you are, giving me hope with the products you use. I have ordered them and am looking forward to taking “gentle” care of my face and hoping to get rid of the rash.
Love your garden. I live in zone 6b and can grow several of the plants you recommend. You are a real inspiration.

  35. Thanks Linda for clearing up all the confusion about skin care products. 😅. A 54 year old here just learning and needing them.
I have read that doing weight bearing exercise’s produces collagen production in the body and gardening is a workout in itself. Maybe thats another reason why you look so young and healthy. Thanks so much for your help ❤️
