  1. The problem with a huge renovation project is that it always gets a lot worse in the beginning. And then, all of a sudden, it comes together quickly. I like the idea to concentrate on one part, the front, now to see a lot of progress. By the end of fall, you’ll have a good start on your farming, have a warm bedroom/bath, and a lovely front elevation to come home to.

  2. Oh my goodness the frame in place looks amazing, I bet it will make a huge difference to the look of the farmhouse when all the front windows are in, I love the idea about getting the walls up & roof on the kitchen to work on inside during the winter, I wondered when you would do it, do you know what time the video will be available in the week I’m guessing Wednesday but I don’t always get a reminder alarm? But honestly you two have worked so hard & it’s already looking amazing, I’m looking forward to seeing the vegetable garden being started in the bigger field too, you’re both so hard working & both have amazing talents, absolutely love watching xx

  3. Love the channel, love your enthusiasm , love the vision and love the work you produce. You mentioned in another video that you done about woodworking courses, I would be interested in a box sash window course were do I sign up 🙂 Did you source the oak local?

  4. Tracy & Budo your both doing a wonderful job renovating your lovely farmhouse,
I must say your energy,& positivity is amazing, there’s nothing you can’t do !
Loving how the blue shutter’s stand out against the white window frame
looking forward to seeing the finished result !
    Take care 🥰💞👌

  5. Hi both love all your videos it gives me enthusiasm to go to France to continue working on my barn near to Vire regards Ashley

  6. You are definitely a first class tradesman. The extra time you take to get all the measurements against the building right is phenomenonal. You are going to end up with a fabulous farmhouse. You and Traceys work on the gardens willbe well worth it when it's all up and running. Love your vlogs. You both work so hard all the best 👍 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

  7. Buds I love how excited you get over the land and all you’re doing. It’s really fun to listen to you. The color you’ve both chosen for the shutters is gorgeous. It really compliments the stone and the roof. Tracey, you’re fearless! Love it!

  8. I don’t know you personally, but I am so proud of what both of you are doing!! Great job and hard work. I also like your explanations of what you are doing. Thank you From Ohio

  9. Wowie kazowie, y'all are moving along! Things are really cooking outside and I don't mean the mulch! Very exciting.

  10. Just catching up. Your windows are going to be fabulous and the house is going to be so pretty at the front. Lots of hard work again by you both. Budo I loved the sky when you were showing us the land, so blue. I can’t wait to be back at my perfectly imperfect La Petite Maison, but I will be lusting after your windows 😍Take care x

  11. Hi! We are Monica and Chris. We have a project in Normandy too. Our house is from 1745 and we want to know why you prefer to use single glass in stead of double glass? We enjoy you're videos.

  12. I feel very privileged to have you as neighbours! And also to have seen your place before all this transformation. It's lovely to hear your enthusiasm not only for your farmstead but for life in this corner of Normandy.

I'm proud too that our horse manure will help feed your land!

One day you should do classes and if you get too many students we'll be happy to accommodate them at La Volée! I hope there'll be bee-keeping courses, but I know I have to be patient….

What a great team you make, so impressive XX

  13. Bracken is a real problem around here. As you no doubt know, it grows from underground rhizomes and comes back every spring. Obviously it weakens if you keep cutting it, but returning it to the soil perpetuates the growing conditions it likes – ie acid soil.

I did a lot of research on this! I concluded that the best way to get rid of the rhizomes is to run pigs there – they seem to be the only animals that will eat the rhizomes and also rotavate. After this (or instead if pigs aren't feasible) you should alter the pH of the soil by liming. It's easy to get your fields limed by a local farmer – well it will be for you, because your land is flat and you likely don't have gates too short for their great big machines (this last really saddens me about my farm – surely a nine foot gate should be big enough?!).

Grazing helps keep bracken back a little but liming is the key in my view. I feel very discouraged because so far I can't get tractors through my gates to do the liming (I'll find someone eventually), and even if I solve that problem, some of my land is too steep for a tractor. Ongoing problem! Our valley is beautiful though – magic. Wouldn't change it.

  14. First time I’ve seen glass cutting. So easy when you do it Budo you’re a Master👍What a moment taking out the old window
