Linda, what do we do if we had 20° two nights in a row and our boxwoods got frozen on the new growth? Record lows for NWA. Some are ok and some look bad 😢
Question of the day: what about a Holly w/the red berries? It would look w/your red brick. I’m not sure if it’s compatible w/your zone?
Looking good as with the garden
Linda, I am happy to see you are feeling better. Just a thought. I finally invested in beautiful fake pumpkins. They really do appear to be real. I don’t have a problem with squirrels but I do have a problem with deer! Prayers for your continued recovery.
Do you ever get wild life in your yard other than birds and squirrels? I am glad you are doing well!
Glad to see you up and going❤
You need color in the garden instead of more green 😊
For Winter I would plant the beautiful Fire Nandinas, because of their berries would feed the birds. Also, since I live in South Carolina, near the coast, I love Jasmine and have it growing in several areas of my yard. Send some rain this way. Happy you are looking perky and back in the garden!🧡🎃
Will you be getting help with bulb planting this year?
I would go with holly.
Bereft
Bedraggled
Betwixt and Between,
Britches and Boots!
That’s a lot of B words in this one!
😂
Linda. Just ❤️ you. So funny about the squirrels 🐿️🐿️🐿️🐿️ eating the pumpkins. You say it all so calmly. 😂😂😂😂 Cracks me up everytime. The ongoing saga with the furry friends.
We got 2 3/4” of rain in Newcastle, OK. I’m sure that I saw my plants actually smiling the next day.😄
I just recently bought a few Thuja fire chief arborvitae . I’m so in love with them . The colors would look amazing in those pots , although they might be too big ?
Holly would look good esp at Christmas time.
Do arborvitae do well in a pot? Or maybe that was one of the ones that did not do well in your dry and hot summer.
You look like your feeling better. Continued healing wishes and prayers.
Hi Linda! Your looking great!!! What about putting ornamental cabbage and Pansies around them in the front pots? I think that would be fun.
Thanks Linda for showing us how to create so many Topiary possibilities with the Holly. Each would be beautiful. Glad to hear you're wearing zippered and buttoned pants – you are looking fantastic.
my jasmine in the UK just gets left outside as its climbing up a brick wall, it can withstand the frost. (a brit in the USA)
So glad to see you about the garden praying you are recovering well🌹❣️
Holy surrounded by pansies. Both.
Urn no 1 please try to keep the Jasmine. Can t you bring it to the greenhouse with your other plants.
When are you planting the bulbs ? Are you buying pre chilled bulbs ?
Here its still too hot ( next week above 20 Celsius.) I might plant mine mid of November.
My Pansies are deep red, burgundy and cupper.
I will make a blend of orange with dark and abricot tulips.
Also Salmon colour Hyacinths (
Weeping yaupon is an interesting winter plant. So is possum haw when the leaves fall, they are filled with red berries. There is a pretty camellia called Yuletide that has red blooms at the holidays. You would probably have to grow it in a pot to provide the acidity it likes.
We just bought a house in a retirement village and are moving in next week. A new gardening adventure awaits.
I would use touch of gold hollies surrounded by pansies. I brought my jasmine inside last week and it has blooms. This year I bought a lot of colorful pumpkins with hard knobby lumps on their surface. The squirrels have been leaving them alone but I did see a squirrel on one and he gave up, after a while, and hasn't been back. You're looking good.
I like the boxwood idea. I think they hold up well in winter and look
Not sure if there would be room in the pots but an upright evergreen would look particularly nice with a skirt of pansies or maybe even miniature hellebore. If silver mound artemisias are evergreen in your area, I think they could also add a very interesting color and textural contrast to something like a boxwood.
The boxwoods look pretty in your planters. Go with them. You look like you are getting stronger. This is great. Keep eating well and do your relaxing things. Meditation yoga. Enjoy the sun! Today i was petting a lazy bee on my Bluebeard. 🐝Luv from 7 a New York. Had three days of rain. Tomorrow sun! 🌞
So good to see you on your walkabout
I am glad you are feeling better. Don't pick up heavy things and don't over do it, Linda, please. I bought some encore azaleas too. Be well,
I don’t see the link for the socks. Can you add? Thanks.
