  1. There's so few guides to doing your own Shishi Odoshi, and it's so great the attention to detail. Thanks for taking the time to show us your labor of love project. I especially loved your idea to add cherry wood to compliment your piece.

  2. Have you tried putting another piece of bamboo for the pivot branch to strike? That might get the deeper sound you were expecting.

  3. Thank you for sharing this build, you do very nice work and i really like how well you explained so thoroughly what you have done. I will be attmpting this soon, possibly with some sort of solar/battery application, maybe using a photosensor for daytime only use. Thanks again and good job!!!

  4. Well done lady it's a very beautiful piece. Your dad is very lucky to have such a talented daughter ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ’–

" That really was.. a hattori hanzo sword "

I need this fountain, been looking for one like this forever

  6. Thank you for posting this! I want one for my new place pretty bad but I wasn't gonna drop like $200 on one. This makes it possible!

  7. Iโ€™ve been looking around and I reckon your design is probably the nicest. A fair bit of work but worth the effort. Not sure if I will go to as much trouble as you.. May dispense with the rocking piece and probably add a bigger cistern as it is surprising how much water disappears out of the system with splashing, evaporation and the wind.. Thank you. I like your work.

  8. Wow awesome work and thorough explanation on the how to. I've just started my Zen garden and looking for ways to build the Shihiodoshi. Thank you so much for posting this.

  9. you seem really chill… got that asmr voice; would totally kick it with you and some amazing grass.

  11. A great project and location was nice. He must have been so happy. I would have gone for a thicker Bamboo for a deeper sound, yet imagine that you get very used to it after a month.
    Thanks for sharing ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ˜Š

  13. Simple & beautiful fountain with sound lapsing long enough and I like the high tone (though I prefer low "thud")!

  14. i think that ,instead of using a rock where the bamboo hits,to use another bamboo rode, the sound would be nicer and more relaxing, now just try and see how it should be the piece that gets hited, longer, shorter, with both sides opened, just 1,thicker or thinner

  15. I don't know how I missed this but it popped up today so I watched it. This was so different than your other work that I was blown away and am inspired to copy it. And, as usual, I noticed you are wearing proper footwear.

  16. What were you wearing that bandana for? Dust protection? Doesn't work, if the nose is peeping out ๐Ÿ˜‰

  17. This is truly lovely. Beautiful to look at, and it has a pleasant sound to me. Some diy jobs have an almost constant clacking which would annoy a person to death. Great work!

  18. It the diameter of the bamboo ! That is why your sound is off . You need 1 ยน/2 to 2 in for acdeep hallow sound .

  19. Thank you for this! I'm going to make a western rustic version with buckets and a hollowed out mahogany tube instead of bamboo… wish me luck
