Senso-ji in Asakusa Tokyo is famous for its tall pagoda, red gates, and huge lanterns, but the temple also has a fantastic Japanese garden. It lies hidden, closed to the public together with Dembou-in, the residency of the temple’s head priest. In the spring, the garden is open to visitors.

Oh man no, NOOOOO, this is one of the worst japanese garden in all of Japan, this garden and the entire temple of sensoji were built in the 70s and is entirely made of concrete with rocks welded into it and covered with moss , the original was destroyed during the war , nothing remains at all, even the garden was not rebuilt according to the original plans because there is no more original plans , they also were destroyed during the war so the asakusa garden is just a fake japanese garden, nobody in japan calls it beautiful, it is just cliche and exotic for tourists.
    If you want to see one beautiful japanese garden in Tokyo, go to Rikugien , this is the last original authentic japanese garden in tokyo still in existence for more than 70 years , all the others were completely destroyed by the bombing of tokyo.

  3. Hello Vic, Thank you for another magnificent video. My brother Danny was stationed in the Navy in Japan for many years and loved visiting the gardens of Japan by trains as well. I lost him in 2003 after disabled in Gulf War 1. He loved visiting all of Japan. Do take care, Vic. Patricia
