I’ve updated and improved my Sims 4 Gardening Guide for 2020. This guide features everything a new player needs to know about one of the Sims 4’s deepest skills. It should be useful in some way to both beginners and veterans to the Sims.
Gardening has an extensive plant list, fertilizing, and evolution that may be difficult for new players to understand. This guide explains how everything works and provides helpful tips to making the most of all these features.
We go over how to finish the plant collection, make a greenhouse, and make a massive garden that flourishes whether the player owns The Sims 4 Seasons or not.
This is to replace my original gardening skill video, which was a bit out of date due to recent changes and was not up to the standard of quality I’m attempting to set for my guide videos. Let me know how it turned out, and if you see improvement in my work. It definitely helps me get better. I hope it was helpful to any newbies out there.

(Regular Sims 4 game on Xbox One): I’m level 10 Gardening and have killed all 15 of my plants. They also never produced fruit even after 1 full week after planting. Even though I’ve literally done nothing but tend to them, water them, and fertilize them for the past 2 hours of my life (2 weeks, Sims time). Plz someone help me
Plants can grow vertical indoors now. Is this only a space saving option, or is the quality better than the normal indoor plants?

For the greenhouse just remove the floor of the room and plant straight into the ground
FYI, in the greenhouse, you can delete the floor and plant the garden just like you would outdoors. No need for the planting pots. Save some money. I just had an idea, which would yield more annually, sheltered or outdoors. It might break even given outdoors is only 2 seasons of the year, whereas sheltered yields all year long. Maybe do an experiment and let us know.
I have six Sims. Five of them have a job, and only one of them working from home by selling plants. I swear, she's the one making some real bank everyday by super selling the rare fruits making the family filthy rich 💀💀
I wonder if I should make all of them quit their job.. but most of them almost reach the top of the carrer so idk anymore.. 😂

Any tips on how to harvest the plants from different locations? I mean, sometimes I find a plant that I don't have yet and they are not ready to harvest.. I don't know when is the right time to travel to get new plants

Honestly I was struggling with gardening thank you for giving me hella tips that I had no idea about. I would garden everyday and then for some reason my plants would become a pile of dirt… it pissed me off
A person I know says that its pointless and boring to do gardening in the Sims 4 I decided to prove them wrong just for fun but ended up making one of my favorite Sim saves, I usually randomize what the sim looks like and touch up some of the weird details because I'm not good at CAS my sim was physically bigger so I took the challenge of trying to let my sim lose weight, sim now is the "average" size, now has a gardening hobby, still watches their weight, and has a good garden 🙂
I don't know if it'll ever be patched out but if you pause your game and tell your sim to fertilize with the same item over and over it'll only use one item on all the plants
I'm also pretty sure you can delete the floor in your greenhouse so you don't have to buy planter boxes. It can be kinda hard to get it right with either the plants telling you they can't be planted indoors or them being put in the household inventory if you make the room around them
Graft anything to Sage and you can harvest it year round
It’s strange how similar 3 and 4 are. It’s been so long since I played 4 that I can’t remember which is which. I’m back into it though and as usual, Carl has the best tutorials on the internet. Man the more I dive into Sims 4 the more I realize that EA really wanted to cash grab this one, putting 1/4th the content into Sims 4 DLC's as they put in Sims 3, case in point the paranormal sims were in more or less one or two DLC packs whereas in Sims 4 it's in like 5 different packs and they're dumbed down versions of the Sims 3 counterparts.
Real shame especially when you consider not on sale they're trying to fleece some 5-600 dollars out of people for the full game, that in all honesty they probably made most of the DLC content base game and then the EA overlords said "Now take core game mechanics out of base game and make DLC's out of them so they're forced to pay 600% markup for a full game, that'll teach them not to buy our call of duty 69 or Madden 500billion"

I only watched this hoping to see if there was a way to fertilize all plants. Ugh. Y wouldn’t EA add this option.
I use farming to make most of my beginner money before I get a job. You make more per day on harvesting
But how can you get the plants to a higher quality?
So the greenhouse effect means I can grow plants independently of their season?
