God bless them a million eight is alot but it can go fast ! The more expensive house has higher taxes, maintenance costs and driving a junker and living in a mansion makes little sense. Better to buy nice, modest and put some savings aside. Then you can move up later on

I wonder if Roger was happy with his home and didn't really want to move but knew that was out of the question.
Of the lottery winners, I think the guy is just not happy with the houses because he expects to be totally blown away on his budget – and he's not being so blown

It's great to get a larger home but it's also a consideration of how to afford it (taxes, upkeep etc) after you buy it. If you keep what you have already or only upgrade a bit then you can relax and know that you won't have to scrimp & save forever.
