HOME TOUR | Fall Home Tour – A Brownstone Renovation with Modern Updates

This week @Designer Home Tours we spend a perfect autumn day with Workshop APD principal Matt Berman at his historic Brownstone in Brooklyn, New York. Matt discusses the seven-year renovation process he and his husband embarked on with their then-infant son. The perfect blend of historic craftsmanship with modern updates, this episode is a great example of interior design ideas and how to blend design periods and different color schemes. The architect discusses when to replace versus trying to find originals to update elements of a historic home. He shares tiled bathroom ideas and kitchen design ideas and also addresses a common question “what should I put on my open shelving units?” This home is full of vintage furniture (including mid-century modern designs) and a bold art collection that gives everyone ideas of how to decorate with art. Anyone looking for renovation ideas or preservation ideas will walk away with inspiration for their next home design project.

  1. This home is my taste EXACTLY! The blues with the camel-colored leather furniture. And I'm so glad he painted that dark wood!

  2. I usually hate seeing wood molding being painted but I get it. The finish was just too dark and it looks very light and fresh now. All in all this home is just my thing. So perfect.

  3. Not impressed. I do not like modernized historic homes. There are tons of options for incorporating modern art and furnishings. The historic exterior should blend with the interior. Find or build real estate that fits your design style.

  4. Great job! I love the juxtaposition of historic and modern. Love the cutout metal "stair rail" on the bedroom floor!

  5. So so beautiful, manages the light and dark in a magistral way as the italian painter Caravaggio did 🎉❤

  6. Absolutely fabulous what a gorgeous practical yet visually pleasing balanced home 😍😍

  7. your home is beautiful and your presentation is wonderful as well… I would have loved to see at least pictures of your husband and son.. since they are a big part of the beauty of this home.

  8. <Charts appear to say >20.5k< bottom i could see that, but not with the macro situation though. I don't even think talkin' about the bottom is worth it atm. Macro is the worst in decades energy, inflation, rate hikes, supply shortages etc etc its the perfect storm. From 2008ish till around 2021 when the economy was boomin & the fed was printing money btc still crash about 85%. So i find it hard to accept a 75% crash for a bear market that lines up with a global recession, dont make sense to me. Institutions & whales need retail to sell so theres enough supply to meet their demand & they aint buyin yet!! The thing is retail aint got any money to ape in to btc atm & over the next 12 months or so i see less money in the system as the fed tightens & everything goes up in price. So where will the money come from in that kind of a setting?? I really don't think we've seen the bottom yet or the kind of pain coming next year after mid terms. I guess we will see, I will keep buy and just trade long term more than ever, I have made over 5.6` btc from trading with Roy Colter in few weeks this is one of the best medium to backup your assets incase it goes bearish < You can reach Roy on ͲeIєɠɾαm @Roycolter, <Orr What'sapp✙13108531738……..
