  1. i have a two-year-old seedling, been in my greenhouse, just moved to house. all leaves are symmetric as the adult. Seems strong and easy house plant to me. It's now approx. 50 cm x 50 cm 8 leaves. Somerset UK.I often think with many plants and animals in Madagascar God came up with some mental ideas, and thought no i can't do that I will file it , then he thought how about a chuck them all on this mental island, no one will notice.

  2. Hello Rachel, she's beautiful, very impressive and massive!! Thank you for sharing and introducing us to something very special!!

  3. These are fairly commonly grown as landscape plants in South Florida. I was surprised to see many of them in this area still alive after the hurricane. The leaves that were open are shredded to bits, but the crowns didn't snap off.

  4. So that's what it is! Thank you. I'm in New Zealand and we saw this in a garden here, and debated whether it was a banana or Bird of Paradise – it really is a mammoth plant/tree. It looked very healthy and happy in our climate too.

  5. Travelers Palm is what I’ve called it. I never knew it was Ravenala. I have a huge one here in my Florida yard.
