The EMPIRE Strikes Back! Chateau MALMAISON – Jubilé Impèrial, Wallpaper REVEAL & CAMEL Cheese!

We are lost between Empires… Is it the Egyptian Empire, known for Ramses II, Tutankhamen, & Hatshepsut, or the 1st French Empire of Napoleon and Josephine? What is The Imperial Jubilee? Shouldn’t we be at home renovating… and don’t we have a big wallpaper reveal? Did we forget about Cheese of the Week, or is it the most bizarre cheese we’ve ever tasted? Am I tempted to sew an Empire Ballgown, and where will I wear it? Pyramids of Giza? Emperors? Camels? Imperial Robes? Whew…someone needs a holiday from her holiday! With one foot still in Egypt and the other back in France embracing “All Things Chateau”, it’s another cheesy, gloriously historical, and typically irreverent episode of @Chateau Love.

ABOUT US:
Hello! I’m Vivienne, the châtelaine of a small 19th century neo-Renaissance castle in the Loire Valley of France, which I share with my delightful (and wonderfully funny!) husband, Simon, our daughter, and —whenever possible— lovely friends and family.

This is not our first chateau! 22 years ago, we bought a much larger castle nearby, which we loved with all our hearts. However, nearly 18 years, many happy memories, countless renovations, and several small fortunes later, we made the very difficult, empty-nesting decision to downsize. With great luck and perseverance, we found our current petit château, which we are now decorating and updating with love, humour, comfort, and —of course— antiques and art!

We adore France and its many unique facets: its people, culture, landscapes, wine, food, art, and history. We also love being surrounded by châteaux, both public and private, which we can explore together! After 20 years here, we have learned many things about living in France, renovating châteaux, and appreciating the extraordinary riches surrounding us. We originally decided to make these videos as a way to share our lives with our loved ones worldwide during the pandemic lockdowns. However, we soon realised that many others are at home alone, and it is our privilege to open our home to you, our new friends. We hope you will join us on our adventures in this exceptional location, and we look forward to sharing a little Château Love!

  5. Thank you so much for these visits to two Empires! I loved every minute and learned and experienced so much! One question ! Simon, may know the answer. What kind of sail boats and sails did we see in Egypt? The masts and sails look so different. Do you sail Simon? Are there any different sailing conditions and corresponding techniques in that area you visted?
Please continue on and rake care! Patricia

  6. Vivienne your style of story telling is so fresh, enjoyable, witty it makes for time well spent. Those guys did such a great job wallpapering that room…really spectacular paper. Maybe give the ceiling a light tint of a contrasting color to the raspberry that you pick later from the fabrics🤔 #nowhiteceilings 😂
    Thanks for another great episode

  7. Pure fun all-round!! Bravo!! From Egypt to wallpaper to Napoleon and Josephine…couldn't ask for any better!!

  8. Here in Québec, Canada, you cannot call someone a doctor unless the person is a medical doctor. Not even a psychologist who has a PhD.

  9. Wow!!! Loved the reaction to Cheese of the Week in Egypt!! So funny! Loved the new wallpaper!! Excited to see the finished room!! Be still my heart; that Emperial reinactment, costumes and dancing were the bomb! So my thing!! And I appreciate your dedication Vivienne and Simon to uploading your videos! Great job!

  10. Hiya Lovlies, appreciated that you showed the foods you ate while on your boat etc. oh why did Steve & Sarah not partake in the cheese tasting? The gowns of Josephine were beautiful, dancing was so much more in that time. Do love Jane Austin. Oh your house sitters did an amazing job with the beautiful paper. Looking forward to watching the room turn into a jewel box. Blessings Ontario Canada Thankyou 🐝🇨🇦

  11. What an amazing trip and vacation you experienced! Thank you for sharing in such an interesting manner! Vicariously, imagined being there with you! I can't wait for you to get back and complete your red bedroom renovation. The wallpaper definitely & amazingly looks like silk fabric! C'est très bien fait!

  12. Fun fun fun so happy to see you guys! I actually Lived not far from Ruile during 3 wonderful years, it’s a part of the suburbs of Paris that I prefer, not far from another mythological chateau of the Comte of Monté -Christo ❤

  13. Tres Elegante and exquisite vignettes that you both share on your Vlogs!
Always a window from the present into a world of yesterday!💐

  14. OMG you guys are soooo much fun!!! Bahahahahaha who knew camels are tingly 😉 That wall paper is very regal; can't wait tonsee how you decorate it.

  15. Simon Vivienne Thankyou For Taking Us Along With Your Trip To Egypt 🇪🇬 I Love Napoleon And and the period dancing the beautiful costumes I was in my element I love days come by history I also very liked the Wall Paper thank you for sharing your blog loved it💕❣️💐

  16. Thanks for showing the re-enactments. We've just finished the re-enactment season in Indiana and ours of course focus on pioneer/French voyageur/natives/early US lifestyles. Watching a trained troupe of dancers shows what dances should be like in Every Jane Austen Adaptation: loads of fancy footwork! (Not slow walking through formations.) Thanks!

  17. Wow what a whirlwind life Egypt, a Recreation of Napoleon's historic times and Army and amazing Costumes.

  18. Whow ! Vivienne and Simon !!!Fantastic ! And yes ! Now that there is a theory of , flying saucers ( sightings) and l do believe there are aliens ! And these pyramids can prove it !! Lovely Napoleonic history 🤗❤️🙏❤️

  19. I love it when Vivian relaxes, and is just herself. You are more elegant that way. It makes you more relatable. Thank you for sharing your life both of you. Lots of love from Montana.

  20. LOVE this video….so well edited …..Id like to respond to Simon's request for viewers to respond to his question, "were the pyramids built by aliens"……I'd like to post a response that I believe that the pyramids were built by Egyptians using terrestrial high technology……life was incredibly tech savvy in that area and era and the language is always numbers/math and sound/frequencies proven by many scientists that have found these numbers and sounds that fall into the creations of pyramids plus many other anomalies ….Egypt reveals their use and belief of these higher technologies….you won't be disappointed….the name of a book revealing these realities is "Our Cosmic Origins"…..and you can look into the Golden Ratio math that has been discovered and was used in building these pyramids … the name of such a scientist that found the communication and proves the math used is DAVID SEREDA….I appreciate all that the two of you do and provide to us viewers….every video of yours is so much fun to watch…thank you for letting me post my answer to your question

  21. This video gets 5 stars, it has it all. Your lives are full of adventure and fun, thanks for sharing. Wow those costumes were magnificent. The wallpaper looked great, can't wait to see how you finish the room. Glad you are back home safe and sound.

  22. I wasn't so sure about camel cheese, but it seemed that everyone liked it…the tingle effect was hilarious…thanks for sharing your trip to Egypt and your adventures in France. The room looks great!

  23. Not "aliens" but angels cast to Earth, and their Nephilim children. The same "gods" worshipped by the Egyptians.

  24. Viv, I really appreciate your effort trying to post your Egypt vlogs whilst actually in Egypt. Loved this Cheese of the Week!🐫🧀🐪

  25. Wow what a jam packed video this one. Viviane and Simon thank you for taking us to Malmaison eat your hearts out Jane Austen fans. The costumes are amazing. The wall paper is so fitting for the Napoleon era and we will be all waiting to see its furnishing.💫🤩

  26. Wonderful Video! I loved the dancing scene near the end of the video. It would be so fun to know how to dance like that. I don't think in rural central Nebraska there is anywhere to learn those steps.

  27. Enjoyed watching your wonderful trip of Egypt . Guess the soldiers colored feathers on their hats, must mean something of rank or squad ?? A big responsibility to keep your feather in good shape 😬

  28. lovely mixture of camels – Napoleon – dances with amazing costumes that also fit you well 🙂- and the very beautiful chateau chambre developed like Cinderella, the tapestry is wonderful, great work within that difficult structure, nice volunteers you had found -happy times to be continued ..👍

  29. Wonderful Video Vivienne!!! You two are such happy love-bugs! That red damask bedroom!!!!Awesome! Your creativity only surpasses your enthusiasm for "all things good".

  30. No aliens built the pyramids. God made man in his own image and he made the universe so why not man made the pyramids Kathy not Patrick

  31. This Egypt trip has blown me away. Great seeing all of the period dress and the dancing. The room looks fabulous.
