Follow the money. The US citizen will pay higher gas prices because our gas is now being sold overseas. I pray to God that people don't freeze or starve to death.
As so many have said before you, Autumn, it's not Russia that wants all out war. It's the West and NATO. Somehow the West seems to think it's ok to send all these resources to Ukraine to prolong what should have been a quick local conflict between Russia and Ukraine. I'm not privy to all that's going on but ostensibly Russia went into Ukraine to stop it's citizens from being murdered in eastern Ukraine. One of the things that seems a little strange to me, however, is why Putin waited this long to go onto eastern Ukraine when the people there have been murdered since 2014. I would think if Putin cared so much about his people he would have gone in there shortly after learning about the atrocities that have been committed against the Russian Ukranians since 2014. Why did he wait this long? In the meantime thousands if not tens of thousands of his people have been killed in eastern Ukraine. So what is Putin going to do next? He can't nuke England. He can't conventionally either invade or bomb England. Both of those options would be a declaration of war and would bring NATO into the fray with a possible escalation to all out war. There aren't many options open to him. Is he going to send in the Spetsnaz to wreak havoc in England by taking out some high ranking government officials or engage in international terrorism in England? Is he going to impose sanctions on the UK. No. There's not much he can do. His hands are tied. The most foolish thing he could do would be to start a nuclear war with England even though by destroying those pipelines the West HAS declared war on Russia. Right now he must be fuming because he's lost face and he's nothing more than an impotent paper tiger as far as him going against the West is concerned. What the West did to Europe by blowing up those pipelines is beyond evil. And yet there will be no retribution or consequences for those acts of sabotage. Once again the West will get away with their dirty deeds unscathed. The only good thing right now as far as European natural gas supplies are concerned is that apparently they have enough for this coming winter and after that they have a year's grace period to try and source or build alternative energy supplies. Hope they come up with something quickly more reliable other than their useless green energy.
