Well, this is gonna be odd…. My store in NE Tennessee at the KY state line- our shelves have been almost bare for almost two years. There are no carts, boxes, or roll tainers in the isles. It is sparse, but very clean. And always has been. The staff is fabulous but they are not treated well by upper management. I shop there daily. I work across the street.
There are many days that the store has ONE employee on the clock. They are not allotted enough labor hours on schedule. 🤷🏻♀️. I’d quit if I worked there. I have even watched the front of the store for the person to run to bathroom or smoke a half a cigarette. It is flipping ridiculous! One person for the entire store for the morning shift!
That's because people aren't buying as much and just in time delivery is failing there's stocking up

I use to work for a drugstore in Pennsylvania, the higher ups are worthless and not needed because they do not help!!!!!!!! I shop dollar gen from time to time and they are always a mess and stuff needs put on the shelves, but I feel for the employees cause they run register have no help so this occurs!
That young man will probably get fired, hope not, but I know by being in retail he will get no help

I work at a Dollar General and while our store looks nothing like that we are overloaded and they keep reducing hours and therefore nothing gets done in a timely manner. Their tickets are completely ignored. The cashiers are expected to work stocking shelves, cleaning, and facing and recovering the store all while running the registers. It just doesnt happen that way. Then you get nasty customers griping and cussing at you cause you aint standing at the register constantly……and yes they do walk throughs…the result? We get a list of things we have to have done by a certain date…which just makes it work.

If I walked in my General Dollar Store, I would walk out, I would be afraid I would fall.
I was just at our local DG. Honestly it looked just like that. I was already in the store when the manager showed up. She immediately started screaming at the one and only employee who was trying to put stock away and ring people through. It was sad. I almost walked out. But I really needed what I got. When the manager came near me I asked her a question of where something was. She snapped at me. I said you don’t seem like you are in a good mood. Then she really flipped out. I kept telling myself she is under a lot of stress. But I won’t be back at that store. I do feel bad for them. But you can’t scream at your employees or your customers

I sent pictures just like this 2 years ago in Phoenix AZ. It was so bad I walked to the back room by myself (not employee). I sent pictures to corporate they did not care told me to reach out to a district manager 🙃

When the DG dumps so much merch into the dumpsters, it is a blessing for dumpster divers and the community! I dive and the things that I find from these dumpsters go to blessing boxes, to many of the shelters for moms and children, and to churches that offer free supplies and clothing, as well as food banks. I once found 3 vans full of TP and paper towels! I passed all of that out to the elderly and to people in my community in serious need of help.

They need to get rid of their rotting clearance that sits there all year round,these people have no room to put the shit get rid of your clearance ,let these people have room to make a decision on where shit should go waste 8 hours of time ,been there done that ,I comment everyday I go in there ,when they start getting sued for the amount of shit on the floor, come on big guys your are fattening your pickets,

Every Dollar General I go in is like that. Can't find anything, Can't get to anything, nothing is priced. I seldom bother to go in there anymore.

Our dollar general looks like that and the manager said he's can't give enough hours for everyone to work. I just don't understand how they can't put thing on sale but can't find them unless they get put out on the shelves
I was just in a Dollar General today and it was exactly as he is showing the people were very nice and helpful i wound up actually helping one clerk stock a shelve with items from higher up that she was handling down to me Great place to get distilled water and it comes in heavy duty reusable containers not the cheap Milk Jug style containers
I worked for Dollar General for years and they have always sent more freight than what we could get out. Two workers one on totes and checking out customers, and one doing freight , assisting customers, checking in vendors, etc…Payroll allowance was never enough to have more employees at most times. Once a week we had several come in at one time before or after store hours which left hours during the week where only one manager would be on duty to handle it all. But then Dollar General was bought out and believe it or not it got even worse. Not sure if it is true but was told it was bought out by people in another country…. I can't even get in our local DG since I need a walker for support.
I don't work in retail but frankly I'm not surprised there's no bigger corporations that really care about their employees I'd rather push push push and make a profit than anything else and when they're not making a profit not a single company will be quicker the fire their employees they're supposed to assets them big corporations and our journalist one of them nowadays. Just like there's not supposed to be any monopolies but there are we all know it number a couple years back when they said the banks were too big to fail get little mom and pop shops got closed up and boarded up prove me wrong. Big corporations are tyrants they do not care about you and given the chance that will use you up and spit you out
I do know OSHA hit ALOT of DG stores with heavy fines for this.

No use taking a buggy, you won't make it. Take a basket, and squeeze thru the isle's. The back is full of stuff too.
2 workers at any given time..most of the time, 1 is stocking, other is on the cash register. In this store, the refrigerated stuff is on the far east wall, I've seen customers lined up to the coolers, then back east, 1/2 way down the isle, and some get mad and walk out. The lady working the cash drawer is droning, and going fast as she can, putting up with griping, hollering, cussing, people throwing stuff on the floor and leaving. Seen it many times.
The people that do work at this particular store, I know them all, they work. No goofing around on the phones or talking.
They've begged me to come in, and I've got enough going on as it is.
They turn over new employees about every 4 to 5 months, then people have had enough of it, including managers.
Dirty floors because there is no room to mop and sweep, no pulled shelves, buggies everywhere including outside the front door when the weather permits…then they push those in at closing, and hoping someone don't steal stuff.
It's bad.
They just cannot find people to work, signs have been on the doors, windows and the ice boxes outside, the wall on the west side where some parking spots are, and on the light poles, ''Help Wanted'.
1 store west of me 10 miles, was shut down, the only person there quit, and a $ General truck was waiting to unload, and he kept sitting there, and left. My boy went there, talked to the driver why the store was not open…he did not see the sign on the front door, ''Closed due to no workers''. It's back open now, all new employees.
Dollar General heads are very tight with money, I saw 2 AC units go out, the workers had to open the doors to let in some air.
It was that way all summer, finally fixed them 3 weeks ago.
I've seen coolers inside broke down for 2 months.
It's been like this for 30 years. I use to work for them for 6 years, i was a store manager. It hasn't changed besides that merchandise comes on flats now. I use to unload semis by myself piece by piece because they wouldn't give hours then either. I managed 3 different stores. My body is so screwed up now. The higher up do know they don't care !!
