In this episode, we’re back to work with the building of our Hybrid Homestead. From foundation footings to the ridge cap of the metal roof, we have built this ourselves. Our biggest DIY building project to date and we’re very pleased with our accomplishments. The next step is to build the cupola and start plumbing the building.

Not too many, yet I'm glad that I've found your chanel.
We're doing a small project/ guest home to house us while we'll be building the main house without any extra hands.
This is a great example for us and great resources to follow.
We're going to look forward to your development.
Thanks!
Happy Thanksgiving! Just in case…
Stay strong, healthy and happy!
Wowโฆ Extremely well done. I just love seeing you too working together developing your Homestead and building such a large structure. Congratulations to you both. You guys sure know how to live. Best to you and yoursโฆ pats for the pups.
That tin cutter is a cool way to make slinkys!!!
That's a fine structure. One to be very proud of, one to use with confidence and peace of mind. A thought. After a thorough cleaning of the exterior of the wood stove, ever considered seasoning it like you would cast iron cookware?
What is the bracket on the end of the ladder when you slid the ladder up the roof . Than you turned it over to lock it over the ridge . Is it a purchased item or home made ? Thank you for any info you can share .
WOW! Iโm speechless! I am amazed! What a wonderful thing you two have builtโฆ the building and the life. May you have many, many more healthy years to enjoy the fruits of your labors!
Did you name you Cupola, Francis Ford?
Happy Birthday on the 15th!!!
All I can say is Wow ๐๐๐
Boss another great video. Lori and you make a great team. Your hard work pays off. Job well done.๐๐โค
The colors, design, and everything about this building is beautiful. So much work done by just two people is amazing.

45* pitch is a bit#% ours was 12/12 and I wish I wouldโve had ladder jacks.
I didnโt like being 25โ in the air at 60 years old. But hey. We are dried in for this winter. Thank
You J.C. And Lori for doing what you do.
I have learned so much from you. And I love my book Back to basics.
Awesome book.
So much information in it.
God Bless ๐๐ป
Question….When age 20-30-40 years old, did you see more and more building in your future…..or was THIS the last one? Just curious, I'm familiar with your moto of dream chasing, just wondering how that has changed over the years.
Regarding your collar ties, I understand why you wanted to line up the tie with the rafters but you aren't getting much "tie force" with just those nails. I suggest you go ahead and "sister" the typical collar ties next to your existing ties or install metal truss plates to connect the collar tie and the rafter together. BTW, I used to do home inspections and you installed the roof venting and rockwool insulation correctly. I can't tell you have many people screw it up.
Hi guys glad to see all is well. Thanks so much for linking below the other 2 videos of this new build. I can now put them together in a list. I will be moving up there next year (May-ish) to start building my own cabin and accessory buildings in the woods as well – from the ground up! Your knowledge and experience is priceless! Thanks again. God Bless:)
Always a good day when the roof goes on!
You guys are an awesome team! Beautiful and well built building
Very nice I love it I'll be turning that into a cabin and moving in
Another interesting video, it gives people ideas for various construction projects.
Great insulation tips boss. Retro fitting this old house may be difficult, but will definitely take notes for the planned retirement "cabin in the woods" ๐

Greetings from PEI, Boss and Lori. That was an info packed video. Bubble foil, taping ladder, rolling the stove on PVC to the peck on the cheek as you were working on roof. Beautiful structure. My log home has the same colour metal roof. All the best, weather looked great!
