Some of my favorite books are older classics…I have been passionate (obsessed?) about gardening my entire adult life and have created and left behind a few beautiful gardens. My gardening style has evolved (matured?) …I started out with a very classic garden style with a huge focus on specific color schemes and more formal design elements…and now I love a more casual, naturalistic, anything goes, low maintenance garden style. The only thing I miss is not having quite enough sun for a huge veggie garden like I have alway had…but manage to squeeze in some herbs, greens and tomatoes right in with the flowers.

This was so peaceful and relaxing, what a beautiful flower garden you have. I love how simple the flower arrangement was to create. Wow I didn't realize how close that tree was to your house when it fell over, that's still a pretty big stump. I watched your video and could envision a tea party in your yard!!…love your yard and what all you have planted. I'm in Zone 9 so can I lynda dream of having some of what you have. Love Hostas but on gave maybe 15 feet that have a north exposure where they would not get fried in our heat!!…would love gardening videos whenever you have time!!

Hi Tamara, I’m a bit late watching my favorite YT folks. I love your garden (and aunt’s). Because we keep moving, I’ve never been able to really establish a thriving perennial garden but always tried to do the best with what I had. I’ve also been somewhat cursed with houses that just refuse to give full sun. What I love in your shade gardens are the numerous different types of hostas which mixed together give variety and are very pleasing. In Wildwood NJ where we used to have a summer house, there is a gorgeous spot called The Hereford Lighthouse. The gardens in front and back of the lighthouse, which backs up to the Atlantic Ocean, are breathtakingly lovely and remind me of your place. The design includes paths to herb gardens and numerous interesting vignettes. They were all designed by the park ranger and his wife. He told us how so many plants growing near the ocean die off from salt water storms. He studied a Japanese gardener’s approach for dealing with salt water damage and found that they used specific types of cedar trees that love and absorb salt water and shielded the plants. That’s just a little garden lover’s tidbit for ya. You’re very talented in flower arranging also.
