Community Meeting | STOP Hesperus Solar | Breen Community Building

Stop Hesperus Solar opposes the permit proposal by California-based Primergy on the Hesperus Solar Development, in La Plata County, Colorado. The proposed 155-megawatt Industrial facility will erect up to 500,000 panels, while all energy generated will provide no local energy benefits or job guarantees. If constructed, it will destroy one of the state of Colorado’s largest migration corridors and elk winter range. An estimated 1,900 acres will be demolished from our wildlife habitat, migration and agricultural farmland. Additional consequences include irreversible damage to historical and archaeological deposits, water quality, chemical contamination, additional fire hazards, health risks and much more.
Stop Hesperus Solar supports small-scale solar on rooftops or to serve individual properties, but not large-scale industrial facilities that destroy pristine agricultural, and rural lands.

We ask you and the county to take the following concerns into consideration:
– DESTROYS Our Wildlife Corridor
– DESTROYS Our Elk Winter Range
– ZERO Local Energy Benefits
– ZERO Local Job guarantees
– Questionable TAX Benefits
– Creates Fire Hazards
– Destroys Forest, Farmland, Vegetation, Soils
– Contaminates Water Quality
– Introduces Toxic Chemicals
– Threatens Historic Sites
– Threatens Archaeological Deposits
– Devalues Views and Property Values
– Creates EMF/Health Risks
– Creates Heat Island Effects
– Creates Decommissioning Unknowns
