Sweet Alyssum for Pest Management

Sweet Alyssum is one of our favorite flowers to cover as it’s super easy to grow, hardy, and spreads quickly, meaning it’s great as a ground cover. It also goes by names such as Sweet Alice and Sweet Alison, but we think Sweet Alyssum has a nicer ring to it! This carpet flower is a member of the Brassicaceae family and YOU CAN EAT IT! It contains high levels of vitamins A, E, and C, which are great for building up your immunity and keeping you healthy!

Here’s another fun fact, they’re quickly gaining traction in the culinary world as their flowers are edible and have a honey-like fragrance. This makes it a popular flower as a garnish in salads, omelets, and summer soups!

If you haven’t checked it out, we have a full YouTube video that goes into more detail about why you should grow sweet alyssum and its power to attract beneficial predatory insects to your garden (link in our bio)!
