  1. Building inspector would make us dig a big soak-away. Where does the existing rain water pipes go??

  2. That's a lot of water but I would think anything you do needs to protect the property from long term damage! 😯 Wales maybe different but we wouldn't be able to put surface water into foul drains. Where do the guttering drains go?? If it's a soakaway I'm not sure they could take much more seeing your weather!! If they connect to storm drains where the road gullies feed in to that may be an option?? As mentioned, only know England regs but even our drives can't run off on to the road, they have to have a soakaway on the property. Hope all goes well with this one! 🤞

  3. Hi
Given the landscape this was no surprise. I would get the council involved and hope they allow a soak away at each end of the wall. This will end up costing more than planned but you cant cut corners.

  4. You really shouldn’t get stoned up there people might think gypos are on the job 😂 keep grinding away guys 😁tough job for you don’t envy your work in this weather ❤

  5. WOW, Justin, horrible conditions to work in, fair play for getting it under control with the hardcore. Ideal if you can get the land drainage linked into the existing manhole, there looked to be plenty of storm water running through it already when you filmed into it, so it's obviously already used as a combined system.
I would assume the council would want a silt trap of some description installed before it hits the manhole given it's ground water rather than just rain water. Well worth your customer spending a wee bit extra at this stage to make sure it's done right……luckily they have the top team on site!

  6. Looks like you had a grim soggy wet week 😂, had very similar myself with slop, not great at all, typical the Uk/Irish will alway shock you evee we n though we go through this every single year,
That’s a crazy stream of water your dealing with bud

  7. Genuine question, are you allowed to add more water to drains when it currently drains into the ground? When i had my driveway extended i had to get planning permission as we were adding drainage to the existing drains rather than it soaking away in the grass.

  8. Nightmare weather for you boyos. Stoning up gives you a better base to work from. Will look forward to the next episode. 👍👍

  9. I think if it’s that wet I would of left it alone Unless the customer really wants you to go ahead

  10. The other thing is the extra muck you did out has got too go back in with expensive MOT

  11. Good lads you got that reflects what a good boss they got.
I'm pondering painting back of retaining wall with bitumen, unsure if common practice as I did paint one in a house with different ground levels years ago on a new build or if it could cause issues vs just extra level of protection.
Land drains would be ideal, might even consult eurocodes for that one, but I suppose all depends what customer will pay for/deem necessary for peace of mind.

  12. Is it possible to put down a few more drainage pipes further up the hill, so the client aint getting all the water. Reducing the problem a little bit ahead? Looks tricky indeed. Good job tho!

  13. Justin, you could dig as many soak away as u like ,. french drains , retaining walls etc , that's a shit load of water coming from that field, personally I'd let it flow on to the patio and in to the aco drainage channels 🤔

  14. Hi Justin
Now that's wet mate 💦💦💦 I bet your all 6 inches taller pal , ground water and water in soil mate is only going to get worse pal 👍 you lads are battling against it mate , glad I've given in and found inside for a few months pal ?? It's bad enough in the so called summer months !!! Heart goes out yo you and the lads mate , keep dry though and chin up mate it can't keep raining g can it ? 👍 all the best justin ❤️❤️👍

  15. A top example of dealing with big unforeseen problems on opening up ground in a Welsh winter ! Justin and the lads done amazing to keep going and figuring out a way to keep the job moving forward in horrible conditions! From getting that water away to slow you to stone up most of the garden and offer solutions for drainage behind wall ! Really well done Justin and the lads proper grit 👏 cheers for upload

  16. Watching this Justin, makes me feel marginally better. We are in EXACTLY the same position on our current job. Every single day we come in to site to it flooded. Clay slop everywhere. It’s costing me a fortune and will be bringing the business close to the edge. we’ve passed the point we could’ve left it and come back, it’s now damage limitation before we even start building…

  17. Well done overcoming that situation. I’ve been there but not quite that bad! As I was watching I thought the solution is what you referred to as option 2. Option 3 good as long as you think the Eco drains will cope with the amount of rain water. Your on the ground and have seen it close up so you’ll know best 😀 Looking forward to next vid
