  1. I feel bad for these people but at the same time we have been talking about this for months. If the company can’t afford to stay open what do they do. Most companies terminate without notice to avoid violence or theft. This is why being prepared is so important and to have an emergency fund. This happened to my husband in 2019, they called and said don’t come to work today we are closed permanently. The company paid them their 60 days notice. He was in a union and they had to pay him 2 years and keep our health insurance for 2 years per their contract. It was the RR. It sucked I had already retired early to care for my parents. I had to go back to work full time and he eventually found something else. They will have to get out and look for another job, possibly move to a new place area. They are in shock right now, we went through it too, imagining the worse case scenarios. They need to go to unemployment office sign up for e employment and they have service to help you build a resume, locate jobs that match your abilities. It may be rough for awhile but those that dig deep, push through will come out the other side just fine.

  2. The furniture sold in 2017 ? Mexico manufactures a lot of furnture & pay much less wages. So is it sill a conspiracy theory that we are being going to be replaced by the alliens/border crossers? Who bought the company? shina?????mexico??

look what happened with the Nabisco cookie company. (had a union) they let people go & then hired foreigners to replace them . They paid the foreigners at or below minimum wage & paid for their lodging & bussed them to & from work & even paid for their meals.
(Unions? They take $$ out of your pay check even if you never agreed to join).

  3. I was laid off on the recession 2008. It’s no fun whether it’s in person or by text. By the Grace of God I had spent the two years prior working 2 extra part time jobs in addition to my full time job and had paid down debts. We made it, it was scary and it was hard, but this too, shall pass.

  4. I seen this happen more than once and corporate almost always never cares about anyone but themselves. This is why people always need to try and save up as much as they can from day 1. It's awful 😞 what they do. It's like the people that get turned down for jobs and in the same letter the company will work in a commercial for themselves saying "don't forget to keep enjoying our products" . It's a shitty mind play of which they really didn't have to put that in there. They know what they are doing to people and it's sad.

  5. Gosh so terrible and sad they chose to send a text message. Praying for them over these hard holidays, if anyone has a go fund me or other. pls. post. I learned over the years to pay attention to company spending, earnings, and what is going on at the corporate level. At a former job I could tell the several millions that came in from a buyout was gone and 6 months later we were bleeding money, things came to a standstill like ordering office supplies and lunches for meetings. Got an interview and took the offer, literally 30 days later they closed for good and laid off, I would have been included in that permanent term.

  6. I was laid off in 2008 after working for a company for 22 years. I was told it's just business, and as cold hearted as that sounds, it's true. Companies are in business to make money. It wasn't a pleasant experience but it taught me a valuable lesson. The days where you worked for one company your whole life have been over for quite a while. I found a job making less than half of what I had made before but I had health insurance and was thankful for that.

  7. Happened to my husband in the eighties.Had one child under two and was pregnant.Worked ti l I have birth. We made it on side jobs no insurance until he got permanent job about two years later. It was tough but we did it. Happened a couple more times in our lives. Companies have no heart it's only about the money.

  8. Sounds like this company was caught up in some illegal activity. When the court puts a lockout on a company that's it.

  9. So sad 😢. I feel so bad for all person's involved. That's cold and wicked. Hopeful all will find decent work elsewhere.

  10. I'm sorry I can't understand most of what she is saying, however I get the point. My daughter, grandson and I, we are not doing Christmas, we'll let me explain we WILL hang up stockings, have a nice dinner, give thanks. We will not be eating turkey, ham or Duck, just a baked chicken with veggies and maybe potatoes, and lots of love. It's no longer a tradition for us. Very sad and majorly sucks. We just can not afford it thank goodness we don't utilize credit cards for getting by or gifts. My grandson is eighteen and just won't finish school, trying to find a job. That's my challenge right now, getting this kid motivated, eeeekkkk. And, we are Blessed.

  11. We are in a COLLAPSE, This will wake people up, because they refused to wake up. So now they are shocked. People need to work for themselves and buck up. Its gonna get madmax if you do not have Yah (God).

  12. Autumn is there a GO Fund me account for this family, did I say that right? I donated at your last one. I'm in no better position, however GOD will provide for this family. Did she leave her info?

  13. Never heard you say if you reviewed the companies' financials to see if they were insolvent and unable to pay workers any longer.

  14. Go immediately to one of the casinos and get a job in Mississippi to all those employees ar furniture company.

  15. I am so sorry 4 all the people effected by this and your stress and heart aches. God bless ya all.

  16. Just a thought…what if this is not what it seems? Over the summer we were looking for loveseat. The style I wanted was at IKEA. I want to own my furniture. Well, *looked into the information on the loveseat & “sustainability”, (paraphrasing) that you can turn in your old ikea furniture for a credit. Your old furniture would be passed on to a new customer OR donated if it wasn’t in acceptable condition. We won’t own anything. That was my take & it’s starting sooner.

  17. My heart goes out to that woman poor lady what a crappy thing to do to people some of these companies should feel ashamed it's the holidays it's hard enough out there I pray everyone out there finds something better.# still believe in America

  18. I am so sorry for this lady and her family. I couldn't fully understand her words, but I sure understood her tears. Anytime is a bad time to lose your job, but holidays makes it even worse. If she, or someone does start a fund for her, I would donate something.
    2700 families…I am so sorry.

  19. I bet this is the first of this sort of thing. NC is probably going to affected as well. They have furniture manufactures as well. This breaks my heart. Such heartache in this world.

  20. Hard to believe that a small group of bankers used worthless pieces of paper to control everyone.

  21. Dang! Prayers for all those people who lost there jobs. God bless you and your family ❤️✝️

  22. They should rot in hell handling it that way. So callous and cold. I've been laid off a couple of times and it was done with as much compassion as possible.

  23. Typical American traitor companies, shut down , fire all US workers, move to Mexico, and hire third world peasant for pennies a day!

  24. I live in a small town hr away from a big city in Kentucky. A few years before C-19 A stake house employees showed up to work with doors locked. It was a restaurant next to the Interstate. They were not even told the store closed. So no jobs without notice.

  25. Just to add salt to the wounds. When you buy furniture, it’s marked up anywhere from 700% to 1500% mark up. Bet you didn’t know that did you! Try and get someone to admit it 🤣😂 how do you think they make a killing on all those “liquidation sales”? 🐎🐎🦅

  26. I worked at a company that filed for bankruptcy and it would have been better to get a text instead of driving in to work and wasting gas money to be turned away at the door. They could not give any warning because the bankruptcy court would not let them. It’s about protecting assets. Bankruptcy courts also allow them to break contracts legally, such as those with health insurance companies. Once a company files, the company loses control.

  27. This is bad…really bad! Get ready all furniture stores across our country! This company provides a large amount of product to all of the furniture stores. No product to sell, layoffs should be expected at the local store level. Lane provides not only home but office furniture as well. With the closing of so many companies, it was bound to have happened. My heart goes out to them, but my husband was laid off from Dayton Tire in 2008. Suddenly and with no warning either. They will survive and get through this. My guess is with all the workplace violence, they thought this was the better way….my prayers are with you and all of you that are struggling with job loss. But Potato said the US is thriving???? Liar!

  28. Really classy way to let people know they're fired. Wonderful timing. More people that are going to have a bleak Christmas. I really hate it when companies do things like this. If the company would have had the least bit of empathy or cared the least little bit about their employees they could at least have hung on till after Christmas and given people some kind of warning. At least softened the blow a little bit. Given them a little extra money so that they could have started to find another job. But no. But there are also good companies out there. A few years back one of the biggest ice cream makers had a devastating fire. While they rebuilt they continued to pay their employees. But this was years before covid and before all the rest of this bullshit went down. Now it's all different and the world has gone insane. As the crisis deepens we're going to see this happen more and more. This woman crying really says it all. What the hell ARE they going to do now. They're not that young anymore. Will they be able to find work again? News like this makes me crazy and I want to beat my fists against the wall and scream and yell. Wouldn't help much though. Don't know what people are going to do if firings continue or increase. This really brings it home to the personal level. We're not cattle or rats in a maze. We all deserve a little respect and dignity. Just shows companies don't give a damn about us. I'm sure the owners will be fine as they probably took as much money out of the company as possible before letting these poor people go. My heart breaks for them. Worst possible timing. As difficult as it is they need to stop crying. Gather themselves together and see if they can find another job. Above all they need to think of their family and children first. The bad times are ahead of us and it WILL get worse. We ALL need to do our best to prepare. I don't give a damn if people think preppers are crazy. The reality is that we're in the run up to some really horrible times and the time to prepare is now. We can't afford to be in denial any longer. The signs are all around us. Those that have been asleep need to wake up NOW and ACT!

  29. Damn I feel so sad for that lady with the 6 kids and for all these employees. This country/world is in such sad shape.

  30. This is just the beginning people! Alot more layoffs and closures are coming. At least we know what is happening can you imagine the democrats when it hits them on head between their eyes! They have absolutely no clue about any of whats going on with the food, water, energy, desiel, gas, closures, layoffs, banks etc………………. It is going to hit them hard. I feel bad for the families, children and elderly. Keep praying and keep prepping! God is in control!
