All the fastfood chains do the same thing. Lots of waste in our country when it comes to food. It’s all about “safety “ and law suits.
Almost 9 years ago I worked at a convenient store for 5 years. We used to be able to take the hotdogs etc home but corporate said to stop. I would give extra food to homeless that came in. I really didn't care if I was fired. My current manager wanted to get rid of me. I was just trying to help her out lol.
I use to work at a nursing home kitchen. I was not allowed to take home food. I had worked there many many years. I took the leftover food home to eat. They knew they could not fire me cause nobody wanted to replace me. They did not pay enough for me to buy food so instead of throwing food away I took leftovers home.
A truck driver told me if they accidentally drive a food trailer to wrong store they have to take and dump the whole semi trailer at garbage site.
So don't waste the food contact corporate office and see if they'll donate it to a homeless shelter is that easy
I remember working at a donut shop when I was younger and I gave some of the bagels donuts and the coffee to the homeless guy that was going to be thrown out I put it in a clean bag and a tray outside the dumpster he would be diving into later on..Never got into trouble for it guess it depends on where you work or the times of the past
All this should be donated to food banks.
Years ago a flight attendant was packing her bag with the left over Sandwiches at the end of the flight.. i was sure She was Donating them..She did it in Hiding as I was sitting in the Rear Saw the entire thing.. God Bless that flight attendant
I work at a grocery store and I will say MOST of the food we dispose of is spoiled, moldy, rotten or past the best by date. Any Canned goods that are dented or if something is missing 1 item like the Applesauce cups for example, we donate those items.
I used to work in the school cafeteria every day I would throw away 20 chicken sandwiches whole pizzas and so much more the women's shelter asked for the food and was told no I once took an an extra sandwich take in mind that we ate at the end of the day and right after that we threw it away I was told I had to return the sandwich or get wrote up kids who were 5$ in debt I had to take their food throw it away and give them sunbutter and jelly needless to say employment there didn't last long because I felt so guilty doing that everyday I truly believe it is a sin to do that when so many people are starving
Years ago I worked at a convenient store. We used to be able to take the leftover hot dogs and chicken home. That had to stop when the employees would cook right before closing so they could take it home. There is always the few that would ruin it for others. Everything had to go to the trashcan.
Throwing away perfectly good food is a crime!! I used to work for a small chain grocery store (many many moons ago) that had it's own bakery. I remember that on Monday, Wednesday and Friday they collected all items that we're going to "go out of date" and a food pantry would pick them up to give out. Tuesday, Thursday they would "reduce" the items for customers to purchase…and Saturday and Sunday…it went into the dumpster. There were days that they would throw out two shopping carts full of bakery items! So much waste, so many hungry people here in this country. If it were me, I'd put the donuts into the convenience bags and then stash them somewhere behind the store where someone could find them.
I got fired for bringing food that was placed in a trash bag (without other trash), put by the dumpster for me to take home. We lived in Rochester NY and we didn't qualify for food stamps (even though we had very low income from my minimum wage job). 2 adults and 2 children were hungry at home. So I got fired for bringing garbage home. Wilson Farms 2005.
In the 1990s I worked for Cinnabon and we were allowed to bring the ones that were going to be thrown away home. By the way, I would do it again.
Burger king throws everything in a waste buckets too.
In Los Angeles a truck goes around to pick up prepped food not used at restaurants and gives it to the homeless. When I was young my parents would give any leftover food from the special of the day at their Ma and Pa grill…to the poor in the neighborhood. In addition, no toast nor bun was tossed from customer's plates, instead it was put in a special bin for the birds. When we got home so many birds were waiting on the wires for their feast. Nothing was wasted.
🙏 Hi my prepping friends I have videos for you on bible prophecy and the end times. Please go to Papa Joe Fortner or shockwaves of the end times or The watchmen series with papa joe. Thank you and God bless you 🙏
Back in the 80s when I worked part time in a pizza parlor in high school, if customers didn't come to pickup their food orders, the manager would let employees take it free.
We have a food bank here in New York City that people like restaurants donate their extra foods too and it is re-dispersed
Did you ever see the video where they throw away 22 ton trucks dumpsters of bananas because they’re not the right size and they’re not the right color or shape!? URKS ME BIGLY! Each growing season this is done
It's all bullshite…Scrooge is alive & well in our time..The ones running this country are stealng everything, but no no ..dont a company let food out to hungry souls, must throw it in the dumpster or the lil guy gets fired! all business, no compassion.
I used to put my son in the dumpster at CVS and he would come out after Valentine’s Day and Halloween with boxes of chocolates and I would hand them out to everybody up and down the block there was nothing wrong with them but they couldn’t store it
My son’s friend used to work at a DoorDash type delivery restaurant and at the end of the day they would have and I am not lying at least 300 prepackaged dinners and soups to throw it away and I would drive all the way to Manhattan to go pick them up every Friday nights. When the boss wasnt there. Stuff was soooo good too. Healthy organic foods. Luckily I had access to my neighbors fridge to put them in.
I worked in a banquet hall. The prime ribs and chicken that got thrown out was crazy. They are not allowed to give anything away. They let one guy take some for his dog.
The business writes what's thrown out as waste so they get credit for them. It ALL about the $$
Used to be given free donuts from a 7-11 many years ago, I would stop in at the end of my shift to get a few things and she would say you want these or they go in the trash. I would take them and share with my brothers. 😊
It's all about the money. These company's don't care about anyone but themselves. People need to wake up.
Write it off as a donation?
While working for ShopRite my son got called into the office and almost got written up for paying for a customers lunch with his own personal money. The elderly gentleman bought lunch everyday. Same thing a soup and a drink. 1.87 everyday. This one day he had a cold and was feeling sick. Got his soup and drink. Reached for his wallet and asked my son if he could hold it for him. He left his wallet at home so he would have to drive home and back. My son said no way buddy, I take care of you daily and you need your hot soup today. So my son insisted and paid. He told my son I will repay tommorrow. My son replied forget about it. Get well. Once the man left the store my son got called into the office. Manager said you cannot purchase meals for people. My son answered how dare you tell me what to do with MY money. Plus would you really let a man in his 80's go home sick and hungry. The man had been going daily for his lunch since he became a widow. So proud of my son!!
Thank you for sharing 🇬🇧👍🏻💛🤍
I used to work at kfc and every night, once closed we bagged up all food, was put into freezer and every month the pastor's from churches would pick up to thaw and heat up for the homeless.also we would have some come to the drive thru window asking if there was anything for them and we would make them all boxes of food, the donations for freezer would be light those nights
Autumn, Autumn, Autumn!!!! …You honestly need to ask your husband and son about ALL THE FOOD They waste in military cafeterias!!! I've worked in some, personally. And the tons of good sausage, chicken, ribs, burgers, fish, etc., that just goes in the trash!!!! Tons!!!! (I feel so sick to my stomach, sometimes, but what are you going to do!?!) Disgusting!!!
That's just sickening! People going hungry and food is being wasted like that?😡I worked in a restaurant for 10 years and we never did that. Any excess became an employee meal, and we could take things home.
This is what Capitalism looks like.
I remember when my kids were in Head Start and I would go in once or twice a week to help in the class room and they would load me down with all the leftovers from the meals they fed the kids. That was so helpful because my family was struggling. Both me and my husband worked but it was never enough to make ends meet. I at least knew my kids were being fed.
The reason why the gas station and everybody else throws away the food is because they do not want people sick from eating the old donut and then sue them for food poisoning thanks for the video
This has been going on for along time . Tried to help and it falls on deaf ears.
This is been practiced way back in the early '70s late 70s since I worked at Alpha Beta Market in Bellflower California they used to throw out all the bread and food that was old past the due date and you weren't allowed to take it out of the trash you'd have to cut all the bags open with the Box knife
I threw away french fries 🍟 at a fast food place.
Autumn, This topic is so important to share. Thank you for doing that too. Much good to eat food is wasted in our country. Why? Businesses throw away such food because it's AT the best by or expiration date. In today's world, it cannot be sold without someone getting sick and blaming or suing the business they bought it from. I definitely understand the struggle a worker feels when they HAVE to throw away food that others CAN live on! It's a part of what businesses call, "risk management." Feed the poor while risking getting sued, thus the business gets shut down and more people starve. This is an awful situation to be in as a business owner, again in today's world. "Potential" bad food being sold or given away may be okay to eat, or it may not be. Autumn, No business wants to put themselves in such a position. So, no matter how it looks, it HAS to be thrown away.
Is it safe to eat? "Probably." Is it a waste of food? Yes. Unfortunately, businesses can't jeopardize their livelihood on "probably."
The other day, a customer approached me at my place of work (Walmart) and asked me if we had any bad apples we were going to throw away (not for human consumption), but to feed or fend of wildlife animals. I let him know respectfully that we can't offer any bad apples or anything else like that (I didn't share why Walmart doesn't do it). He thanked me anyway and went on. I'm sure he wasn't some sew happy guy, but just someone that was looking for some easy way to alleviate a problem he was having.
So, yes, much potentially good food is wasted and thrown away. Sad indeed.
All these places hate helping anyone in need and enjoy hiding behind any excuse to letting food go to waste, "food and safety issue" is just their way of saying pay me or starve to death you filthy peasent. You can't get sued if someone gets sick from food you donated if i recall correctly so the people who own these places are just idollar monsters. They're miserable excuses for human beings who love spreading misery to others.
This is nothing new. They've
Been throwing food for decades. I used to work for taco Bell they used to at least let us take any left overs. But majority of places throw out the food it's
A tax write off. That's why they don't let there employees have it.. Cause it's a tax write off.
We have to discard ours at the end of the day too. Me and my other coworker says the same thing about giving them to homeless. We even have to discard our sandwiches after two hours. We have to discard pizza after one hour. We throw away Soo much food. I was told that I can leave the bag on top in hopes someone will see it and grab it. I should take a pick of how much food we throw away. It's sickening. Everytime I throw food away I think of a starving child. But even though they want me to keep both warmers full, I don't. I make enough sandwiches that go fast. They wanted us to make 3 biscuits with bacon and NO one buys them. Soo I only make one and two bacon croissants. I don't even make breakfast pizzas at 5 because I'm usually tossing the whole pizza. And now I got word they want us to open at 4am in the morning. Soo now I would have to be up by 1am to be there at 2am. No one is up at 4 am. They don't start coming in until 5. My solution was to call the dumbass in corporate that came up with this dumb ass idea and call him or her at 1 in the morning asking if their awake because I am. Are the ready for work because I am. Dumbasses I swear. Greedy mfers. It's bad enough that all I do when I come home is eat and sleep until the kids get home from school. It sucks.😡
Stupid is as stupid does
