Oh I look forward to a new journey and getting to see it as it progresses, I would go light in the kitchen as you can always add colour by the statement piece, as for SMEG Fridge, well I wanted that as well, but like you said price was not worth it, but smart hubbie said use radiator paint on one side see how it goes, and being that our fridge was at the time metal , not the ones now, and it was fab, bright pink it went, he was sorry he said anything, but i am sure you can find the right paint for the fridge you get xxxxx Good luck xxx Dede xxxx

Skip the trendy, expensive fridge. For a pop of color (which is always fun) maybe choose colorful small appliances for the counter or a colorful small dining table/chairs since those are much easier and cheaper to replace. Both of those might look best with a more modern kitchen style.

looking forwars to seeing the progress. I live in a similar location in Scotland too. My only suggestion would to have a half or quarter wall seperating the kitchen and living room wile maintaing the open plan space.
When it comes to the kitchen, it has to be properly ventilated and light because you want it to properly lit at all times of the day.

Keep the closet…you will regret losing the storage as all that could be kept in it will have to be spread out in the bedroom, losing that minimalistic look. Think you got a good house for the price!!!
