  1. I'm a huge rimworld fan and never had the time to sink into learning free DF, but the steam release is amazing.

I just had a colony where I dug almost 30 levels down before finding a giant cave system, with tons of diamonds and rubies, I got greedy and was prompted with "you have discovered jewels that look like gifts from the gods" (paraphrased) so my greedy self cut them away, exposing the tomb of a tough black horror who one shotted everyone diging jewels in th cavern, who them climbed all my stairs, murdered all my children in the kids Burroughs, and finally going to my tavern and murdering all my guests abd reminding army. I only managed to blind it, but everyone died.

    Losing was fun!

  2. The new version is great. I usually spend more time with the wiki than with the game itself trying to play it but the new version is a blessing and I even started to pick up subtle moments that I was too tired to make out of the mess earlier. When I breached a deep cavern one of my cats escaped into it before I managed to wall it off and I noticed some alerts were coming from there. The caverns were now entirely explored by said cat, that was now ridiculously buffed up, covered in crundle blood and attacking a floating eye scratching at its eyelids. What a lad. Needless to say, I opened up the passage and herded him back to my animal pasture to guard the other animals.

  3. Im new to Dwarf Fortress but wow the effort put into this video is AMAZING! Great video 🙂

  4. This was such a thoughtful and well made review of the game! I've been flirting with purchasing the game, a bit intimidated with the impending learning curve, but you just gave me that little push I needed to dive in. Thank you!

  5. Lovely review, great content Hope the algorithm throws more people your way! You showed up on my recommended so maybe that's a good sign.

  6. I've been playing for 10 years, I always needed mods and scripts to make the old game playable, although I preferred the ASCII graphics. The premium version has so many quality of life improvements and runs so much faster that I don't miss the old mods. Still looking forward to them adding back in the ASCII graphics.
