Why did I stop mid-way through kitchen wiring? Change of plans?

    My comment doesn't have to do with wiring but maybe put the sink in front of the window and counter between it and the stove?

    We cut and taped cardboard boxes together to the same size of the cabinets to get a real life feel how everything was going to fit.

    might look for a standard cabinet piece or two that you can just get door fronts to match your other cabinet pieces to fit the stove in a better work flow pattern. Just an idea sometimes you just need a custom fit piece. altho have you played around with putting the pantry where you were thinking about putting the corner cabinet, not certain it would fit, just putting ideas out there? its okay for that corner cabinet to be by the door and make a kind of setting stuff down counter space. worth playing with pieces. make some cardboard cut outs and sit them on the floor in the space. makes a huge difference.

    So who is dictating that you can’t have a 6” counter? Underneath in the cabinet would be space for cookie sheets, etc. Not much, but still useful. Do what is best for you and Katie! Do not do what would be best for viewers.

    I see nothing wrong with a 6" cabinet. We had one and bottom is great for cookie sheets and the top will hold some cups. The counter top would hold a coffee maker. That gives you more counter top on the other side of stove for items that need more room or space to work on. You do what you have to do to make it look good and get space. Do your own thing.

    I put a 9 inch cabinet next to my stove and just love it. I put all my baking sheets there and still have room. And the small drawer on to I use for my cookie cutters and pie birds and such. If you want to put a narrow cupboard next to your oven or if it works best for your layout, go for it. You will find a good use for that small space

    I don't know if this true in your part of the country, but you can not put a stove under a window. Check this out for sure, so you don't have to move everything again. Don't get to familiar with that electricity. Fear it and respect it..

    Your wiring skills are impressive Nate. I like the idea of using cardboard cutouts to show different ways you can arrange your cabinets, stove, and sink.

    You are doing a fantastic job with the wiring! Why can't you just make the pantry wider and leave out that bit of counter space? Just a thought!

    Our house was built 33 years ago. I have a built in double oven and barely 4" of countertop between it and our stove top. While it is a 4 burner stovetop, it's not enough space to use all 4 at the same time unless using all smaller pans. It's especially a pain when I am canning because I can't really fit my 23 qt water bath canner on one burner while cooking in a good sized 8 qt pot on the one next to it. I will definitely be getting a much larger cooktop when I get around to remodeling my kitchen.
